Yeah cheers mate i thought that too considering its just been mostly from eye..Been a bit harder using cans in relation to colour matching. Ive been watching Welsh's
WIP esb helmet and i can see the difference in colours and technique etc with Airguns.. To answer your question on welsh's thread most of the cans used were Acrylic
as i got alot From Halfords (motor - bike shop,) didnt realise it was causing most of the problems with masking or the lifting of the masking.
The best colour match to help me was by printing of in colour (A4) Count Dookies ESB Colour scheme/stencils and literally taken them into the shops and matching up the paints to the pictures ( i had a few **** ones but it was a hit and miss and got a different one) the easiest and best matches were:
Mandible : plastic-cote metallic Silver, Iron Grey, Canyon Red, Satin Red (Maroon looking) again all these are the names of the paints on the cans ie the full name was "Volkswagon Canyon Red"
left ear : Plastic-cote Hunter Green, Canyon Red, Iron Grey
Right Ear : Coral Beige, Iron grey, silver
upper cheek : Matt black , Silver, iron grey
Lower Cheek : Iron Grey , Matt Black , Humbrol 'Just Spray special effects paint ' green provence + plastic-cote Green misted together
dome: Silver , iron Grey , Touch of Satin Red, Humbrol 'Just Spray special effects paint ' green provence + plastic-cote Green misted together
The back panels were tricky as its a funny green/blue but it was a case of hit and miss really..
Thats it really most of the core colours were from Halfords the Car parts shop and goin through the caps for close matches.. Though the Main Green
was Humbrol which i wanted to make sure was close and not acrylic.
