Super Nerdy - Jet Pack or Rocket Pack
I know a while back some people convinced me that Fett's backpack was a ROCKET PACK instead of a JET PACK because it lacks an air intake that is seen on a jet engine as opposed to a rocket engine which carries its own fuel and oxygen. The argument made logical sense at the time and ever since, I have been referring to the jet pack as a rocket pack. However, looking through the essential guide to weapons and technology, they refer to an intake system and miniture turbines... now I know all of that is made up but they did positively ID the parts to a JET engine, NOT a ROCKET. Looking over the pack itself, I wonder if the toothed ring, just below the rocket is supposed to be an air intake type structure... or probably the prop designers didn't think that far ahead, but I am not wavering again on whether this is a jet pack or a jet pack. Let the nerdiness begin... what do you think?
