Need help on Storm trooper purchase

Hey I am new to this and wanting to purchase a complete Storm Trooper costume. I have no time to put it together so I was wanting it completed.
Deluxe type versioni with all the bells and whistles but do not know where to look. I have been looking strongly at costume junkie but am not sure.
Price is not a problem as long as it is worth it, and is of high quality. I could use all the help I can get.
 
You don't want to do that, each costume is custom built to the wearers specifications.:facepalm If you get someone elses it probably wont fit properly, you really need to build it yourself(IMO) however, it is your $1000:rolleyes There is a seller on ebay 333trip (got armor?) for $650 (hardparts) that has supplied MANY 501st members, not super accurate, but for the price you can't beat it.

Personally, I like the AP Stormtrooper armour, but you're looking to spend about $1000 on that kit. Depending on what suit you want, the price varies greatly. Are you looking for just an FX kit? Or something a little more advanced?

I have taken all into consideration.
What I have looked at though, is the complete fitted costume made by costume junkie. It is expensive but looks like it is worth it with all the options that come with it. Comes with everything including fan in helmet, speaker system hidden, and complete costume ensemble. boots, gloves, body suit, neck ring, blaster, literally everything. After adding all the options up with everyone else it is not actually bad, at least price wise.
Has anyone ever purchased anything from costume junkie?? Is it quality stuff or what?? Any info would be of help.
 
Hey on the costume also I want to go all out. I have wanted to do this for years, and now kind of a second childhood. Hey what is the AP armour you talk about.
Havent seen anything on this.
 
AP is more accurate than FX. You'll get by with FX and probably be happy for awhile, but you will want to upgrade after seeing other suits. I started with FX, and then upgraded to a more accurate kit. Mine is either GF or AP depending on who you talk to. It also depends on your size. I'm 6 Ft 238 lbs and pushing the limit of the armor without shimming it to make the parts larger. Pictures are me in both.

As the GML of the Singapore Garrison and a Sandtrooper/Bounty Hunter, my personal opinion and advice to you is to get yourself a Kit and have it fitted to yourself. Gettin ready made armor, especially if you're going for a movie look, just isn't gonna cut it.

Most, if not all of the troopers I know, got themselves Kits, read up on the DIY bit and put together their own armor. As for those that needed help, there are builders that will help, but will still require the ones they're building for to be around for a proper fitting. In short, if you want a proper fitted armor, either do it yourself or have someone with the experience do it for you [with you being around for the fitting.]

Last but not least, FX armor is affordable but nowhere as accurate in both size and 'cut' of the Stormtroopers you see on screen. best way to describe it, FX Helms are at least 10% bigger than the Movie Helms, armor less so.

Keep in mind that sometimes it's not practical to have ALL the bells and whistles intergrated into your armor. Alot of things can go wrong, and add to that, the weight issue of all the addons with the power supply [batteries] etc.

Remember, comfort is just as important as free movement, you'll need to be able to move like a trooper and not a robot. And you don't want to have armor bits cutting into you, especially if it's poorly fitted.

Don't rush this, do your research, and hit your fellow 501st members in your area and ask em questions...I'm sure they'd be more than wiling to help you out with your armor queries. Get the relevant info you need, decide carefully and then make your buy.

And you don't always have to buy everything at one go...and like everything else armorwise, upgrades will always be the norm.

I got my armor fro 333trip on ebay. He was an honest seller and it was a nicely made kit. I have seen costumejunkies website and his stuff looks cool. He has also sold on ebay, so you might be able to find his seller rating and feedback which of course still needs to be taken with a grain of salt. As others on here have said the fx kit is not terribly accurate, however 99.9 percent of the people who see you in it will think you work for George Lucas:lol:. I have had small kids run up and hug me while in costume and numerous request for pictures. I also have fans,speaker system in my helmet and it does not add too much weight IMHO. It really adds to the cool factor. Good luck. cojake

How about the boots and gloves and that kind of stuff. Does AP have it also? Or do I have to look elsewhere.

Yeah, go with AP:thumbsup: I wish I had gotten that before I bought my FX. As stated by most FX is a good start but you'll end up wanting some AP, it just look better.:love One of these days I'll get around to getting some too;)
 
I would say the AP is too nice of a suit to make as a first-time TD. The FX is a great starter suit and you won't feel as bad if you screw up.

I got a FX lite for $385 delivered. I bought an assembled FX lid, then swapped for an RT-Mod, and picked up a pack from a friend for $100. It is the bits and pieces (guns, pouches, pauldron and so on) that will ramp you up.

The FX is the easiest suit I ever assembled.

Go for it. Just do not rush... that also gives your wallet a chance to recover too!

now i tend to think the opposite... when i got my AP kit, i intended to keep it clean, but looking at it... it just LOOKED like a sandtrooper to me!

the pic is old... i've fixed the thighs (too big!) and touched up the weathering a bit more. but i think that the closer to movie accurate armor looks soooo good dirty!
