Mr Fett
Well-Known Hunter
Great comparison pics! That new helmet does look pretty close to me, but then again I never nitpick the Boba helmets apart like a lot of the "helmet guys" do. Seriously, to me and pretty much the rest of the world (besides TDH), every Boba helmet out there looks like Boba Fett. As long as it's shaped like a Boba helmet with a T-visor and dent and rangefinder (generically speaking), everyone you see will recognize it as Boba Fett, regardless of which paintjob you paint yours in, or how many milimeters this section is apart, etc.
I'm not trying to sound mean or anything, it's just that there's a lot of different Boba helmets out there and while every 'maker' is striving to be more movie accurate (which I fully admire), to everyone seeing you wearing your Boba helmet in public at events, it doesn't matter who made it, they just see Boba Fett. Doesn't matter if it's a repainted Rubies or this brand new FP one. They see Boba Fett. But for the TDH community, I know we're always striving to make a better Boba. Yay for our insane commitment !!!
For me personally, most of those Mystery sized helmets look too wide for my skinny shoulders, so I'm pretty much stuck with old school helmets as it is. :facepalm I have 3 helmets in my closet under various degrees of being finished, and all are smaller (2 DP vinyls and 1 DP sized fiberglass). I wish I could get a cool helmet like the rest of you guys, but most of them make me look like a Bobble-Head. The Sgt Fang helmet "might" be about the max limit of large size to match my body frame, but in this thread it's being said this new helmet is even larger than the Sgt Fang so most likely would look bad on me. The whole movie look is deceiving. Even though the ESB and ROTJ helmets are probably the exact same size, in the stills from ESB the helmet looks really huge on Bulloch's head, but in ROTJ it doesn't. So, for an ESB helmet, I guess I could go with a large Mystery type helmet and the Bobble-Head look would work for that one being accurate.
It's late and I'm rambling on. Regardless, that's a KILLER helmet that FP has created (with group effort this time) and I'm sure will continue to raise the costuming bar once again. :cheers
