Lots of update stuff today. 8)
Mandalorian Boot Knife Sheath:
(By the way, the Knife will now shave)
I also constructed this from scratch. Leather, Copper nail and washer rivets, sewn with waxed twine. The Coat of Arms is carved from a slice of antler, and the skull beads are from Tibet, hand-carved from bone. The back of the sheath has a dual rig system that will allow it to either be worn on a belt or strapped to a boot. The Coat of Arms is my registered SCA Coat of Arms, sans the colors. The colors on the real coat of arms are "Argent, a Maltese Cross Sable within a Border Purpure", or "White field, black maltese cross, purple border".
I also hammered out the left Shinplate, unfortunately, I didn't snap any progress pics of it. I'll get progress pics of the right one. Here it is smoothed out, with the basecoat applied:
I changed some of the contours for comfort and safety reasons, flaring the edges outward much like medieval greaves often were. I also used the same riveted construction as I did with the codpiece, both for continuity and durability.
I finished the codpiece, continuing the color scheme and weathering patterns:
And no armor is complete without a set of "cat scratches". I finished weathering the shoulder bells:
Next up, I'll be working on the right shin, weathering of both, and I'm thinking of making the thighs out of leather with a metal strip or two to match my plan for my vambraces. Also, someone brought me a piece of 3/8 inch plywood, which I'll be making a small round shield out of later on today.
