Clearcoat and scotch guard for sealing/waterproofing?

I've used Rustoleum's clearcoat/sealer before and that seems to work pretty good. However, I have not tested it on any rainy days. Does anyone use anything waterproofing and sealing your paint job?

I've also considered using scotchguard for protecting the weathering on the softparts? Has anyone tried this method?

Testors Dullcote I've found sealed my helmet paintjob perfectly. As a matter of fact
I found it out today cause it poured all day and I took my lid somewhere to show it off.
Not sure about the Scotch Guard. Good Luck!
