Using fiberglass

I've got a quick question about fiberglass to anyone who's had some experience with using it on a helmet build. What I'm wondering is does the resin alone do enough to add reinforcement or is it not even worth it without the matting? Thanks all!

The resin alone is very brittle and wont do too much. You can use fiberglass cloth rather than the matt and it will be a little easier to work with. The cloth isnt as strong as the matt, but if your putting it over posterboard or something similar it should be pretty decent.

Yes it's going over posterboard/mat board type material so I will look into getting some cloth. I'm not looking for protection from getting hit in the head, just enough to reinforce the structure of the helmet . Thanks!
