First time bucket builder

Hey all, I am currently in the process of building my first bucket using WOF's template and AntMan's write up. I had one question and I am certain its a fairly simple one to answer. When cutting out the outer surface do you remove the cheekbone area before applying it to the inner surface? The directions weren't very clear and there weren't any pics I could find of that part of the process.
