Bandai 1/12 scale Boba Fett

Hey Fett heads!
I finally found the Bandai Boba Fett kit locally.
I've built a few of their droids and they're fun to build, so I figured I'd give Boba a shot.
The kit is really detailed and there are way more parts than I was expecting.



I have most of the subassemblies put together. The parts attach with polycaps so I can just pull them apart for painting.



I started painting with the helmet (of course) and working on something this small was pretty challenging! Here's a comp of the completed helmet along with a shot of me holding it so you can see the scale. I used the kit supplied decals for the killstripes and the ear markings.

This will be a longer term personal project that I'll work on between my helmet commissions. I'm beginning a new one this weekend, so Bandai Boba will be set aside for a while. I look forward to getting him finished though!

The rear panels are drying on my helmet commission so I did some work on the armor on the Bandai Fett. These pieces are crazy small!

Ok, updates!
Slowly but surely I'm working on the various components of the model.
First, boots and knees. The boot uppers and soles are molded separately, making painting a little easier. I gave the soles a coat of off white, then painted the uppers in two shades of gray. Finally I painted the piping as carefully as I could with flat black.
The knees (and shoulders) got a coat of SP Armor Yellow, then a scrubbing with some orangey-red pigment powder to shift the color. The incredibly tiny ( ) darts were painted silver and then very carefully pressed into the holes.



The gauntlets were given a base coat, then the small details were mostly painted on using my trusty size 18/0 liner brush. The calc pad is a decal.



In the above shots, you can see the subtle difference in color between the left and right shoulders. The Mythosaur skull is also a decal.

That's where things stand now! Still working on the remaining parts. The main things I need to paint are the Wookiee scalps, the jetpack, the blasters, and the cape. The cape is molded in an odd pale green color which is strange. *Shrug*

Got some more done. I worked on the hands/gloves, the weapons, the Wookiee scalps, and the cape. I need to paint the jetpack and then do some weathering and that should wrap it up.

Yes, it's there but it dried a little too light. I'll have to find a color that gives more contrast.
