    DangerRuss,

What sized head does your helmet fit? I have a 24inch noggin. Please email me at Pday2242@yahoo.com to discuss some things. Thanks.

oh, the material I used for the neck was a colored foam. I bought it at Michaels art store. I think their $1.00 per sheet and you can get them in any color.

Danger Russ I'm also interested in a helmet. Or at least the process by which it was made. Either is fine. Or both. =]

Hey Masterle247, that costume is looking awesome. I love the black outlines. Makes it look like it walked off the pages of a comic book and turned into a real Iron Man!

Hey guys is it me or sinse Masterle247 & DangerRuss has posted their great suits and lids that the originator of this thread 'PacoDeth' has not posted again...
Now I could be off bat here (So please do not take this personal or any offense to what I'm saying) but 'maybe' others suits should have been kept to their own show threads rather than dominating another members?

Again I could be 'way' off and Paco has just been too busy to post...
great suits guys and great skills!

I don't think anyone has a template for an Ironman costume. I read in one post, I think on the rpf, that someone was trying to get the 3D model used in the pc game, but I never followed up on their progress. I'm working on a small War Machine for my son for Halloween, and it's all from the ground up. And very slow. Good luck finding what you need.

Hey everyone... I was checking out the site and ran across this thread... I must say.. great work guys!!!

I have a little info that might help you all out on the repulsers and the chest piece.

I made this up just for shoots and giggles from some spare lights...

Its ultra thin and mega bright

The lights are LED fixture Lights from Ikea..

    http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/20119932

they are 12 volt.. so i just shortened the wire.. and made a simple power pack with a 12 volt mini battery from a car alarm clicker, a radio shack switch and some electrical tape. Then I sewed it to a glove ( the bezel separates off of the light )and I run the wire over my hand and between my fingers and strap it all on with the switch/power pack at the base of my hand on the back. It allows me to turn the light on and off with only a flick of the wrist.

sweet!!!! My original replusors were like yours, but I felt they were to big and I couldn't close my hand. so I took a tap-lite apart with 3 lights and put it into a plastic bottle and ran the wires in much the csame way as yours. I love your ideal about the flick of the wrist to activate the light...vewry cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yes they are a bit large in the palm as far as the diameter is concerned.. but they are nowhere near as thick as a tap light. I like them because they are the right size or so... I want to incorporate them into the glove more.. like sewn in so that it is more flush with the surface.

the best one I have ever seen will debut at Dragon*Con this year... its vacformed, and looks dead on to the movie suit. the freaking arm even opens and the rocket launcher comes up. absolutely nuts.

he's only posting progress in one place, so I dont wanna cross post it with out his permission, but if you are a member of the colonial fleet, its on their boards. but I cant wait to see that bad boy in person!

I've been following this thread now for a little while and I must say I'm really impressed by the creativity and skill you all have. MASTERLE247 I was curious if you have any shots of your helmet in the works...and also of the lifting face conversion. I'm also using the child mask from walmart to make a full scale helmet and would love to see your process. thanks much

Re: Iron Man Armor (Sintra) !WIP!

Sorry ALL! I feel like an *** for not posting in here so long, when starting this project I saw things people started working on for Iron Man armors (well before the movie) and then just disappeared mid-work without any updates.

Main reason I haven't posted here is because I don't really have anything new to post about. A number of things have kept me from doing work on the suit, mainly Real Life issues, other projects and hobbies, a little bit of being bummed trying to work out flexing/bending/rotating joints for things like elbows, knees, thighs, etc. Some things were definately easier then I had expected, the chest piece came out much quicker and easier then I had expected. Other things, like the aforementioned joints, and mask, and a glove easily "useable" that still looks good and professional have been much harder than expected. The one glove I did make works pretty well, and is pretty "useable", but it's hard to hold a beer mug snugly with the glove (figured this out on halloween ).

Anyways, I'd love to get back into working on this and maybe even see it to completion (still got tons of Sintra sittin around my room, all the bits n pieces are startin to get in the way!), and if i do start work again, you all will be the first to know about it! Thanks for all the support and the views, I was worried when first starting here, that I would get a buncha "you aren't making something Star Wars, you suck! Go away!" hehe.

Here's to hoping I get the will and the interest to start this project up again and finish it, in one form or another.

Wow I haven't been on this site in ages and now I see a few people working on this suit. Crazy progress you all have made on this. Inspiring to say the least. I just started working on my War Machine progress, what little there is, use pepakura method.

the_batman - I like the idea you have with the arms and adding a joint piece there. Nice touch!

Masterle247 - Got any more progress? I'm on your myspace friends list so I can keep up if you blog there. Great work as always.

Elepski - I'm liking the idea with the IKEA lights. Not to begrudge anyone one who wants to DIY their own, but sometimes grabbing a premade object like this works just as well.

Keep up the good work everyone.

Re: Iron Man Armor (Sintra) !WIP!

Well I'm still here and kickin, although I haven't really done any new work on my Iron Man suit I did however make a new piece of armor which I wore for our annual Halloween party this year. Fret not for the Iron Man armor, as I have picked up some pieces to use with the costume as of recent which should help me better finish the suit.

Anyways, I figured I would put up my more recent project. Long story short, it was getting to be near the date for Halloween, and I had yet gotten a costume for it. Eventually I decided I had no interest in buying a costume, so I figured I would throw together a medieval gothic sort of chest plate using most of whats left of my 2nd Sintra board I had for my Iron Man armor.

So, I basically threw this thing together in a weeks time, 7 days to be exact, and somewhere between 2-5 hours per day work putting it all together. The worst part was the painting, as it was cold outside (spray painting in cold weather doesn't work so well in case you didn't know, paint tends to run and get blotchy) and very high winds. Several pieces I spray painted, then left to try, got picked up by the wind and blown onto the driveway or into the grass, causing chunks of dirt, grass, and debrit to get stick within the wet paint, and chunks of paint to get scraped off on the concrete. On top of that, the wind picked up tons of small pieces of dead grass and other foilage in the yard and blow it all over my wet painted pieces. Needless to say I did alot of sanding and repainting.

    Anyways, here's the pics!:

For the first two pics we have some two-piece shoulder blades, the smaller being an unused attempt at a elbow piece for my Iron Man armor.

Next we have another unused throwback form the Iron Man Armor project, a sort of Shoulder Harness or Shoulder Rest to mount the chest and back pieces to, and shoulder blades:

Now, either the front or back plates riveted together from 5 seperate pices of Sintra to give a sort of "plated" look to the armor:

The Front and Back plates now attached to the Shoulder Harness (sorry for blurry pics!):

And last but not least, the near finalized armor piece which I wore at our Halloween party:

Still to be done is some cleaning up and touching up of the paint job, painting over the silver rivets to match the armor color, and a chest emblem of some sorts. I originally had some crazy skull looking piece I was going to attach to the chest piece and paint gold, but ran out of time to put it on before Halloween and also didn't fully like it (it came out too big). I also had a large celtic cross that I thought of cutting out in Sintra and painting gold and putting on the chest piece, but again ran out of time.

Any ideas or suggestions for what I could toss on the front chest piece (and possibly something for the back) are welcome! More than likely I plan for it to be a symbol painted in gold (always liked the black and gold motif) but any other color options are welcome too.

Re: Iron Man Armor (Sintra) !WIP!

    Hey guys,
New to the site. Been working on a version of the Mark I armor for the past 3 months. It's slow but getting there. I was wondering if anyone knew of any files (pepekura of pdf) of a version of the Mark I armor. It doesn't have to be the movie version (mine isn't) but I'm having trouble doing the gauntlets and thought this may be an easy way to get the hands done. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Peace,
    Bradjac

There's a 3D file here but I think it needs unfolding:

Re: Iron Man Armor (Sintra) !WIP!

wow its been along time heheh, anyways im working on War machine concept for IM2 at the moment. here some pictures. still need to finish up on the base then i can add the major detail inwhich it will end up looking alot better from now ..

Heres the concept i want to build.

Concept helmet im working on, the minigun/valcan actually works "spins and will fire medium sized bottle rockets hehee ) "

    Movie accurate Arc reactor

    flight stablizer move as well

boots still need to be detailed and painted.

upper portion of the legs will not look the same after i detail it .

id say im about 80% finished with the base/foundation of the costume. The costume is made out of High Impact urethane plastic. not fiber glass or poster board . if you want to see more pictures click on the pics or goto my myspace.

things still need to be com[pleted

    -neck piece
    -abdominal area
    -replusor gauntlets
    -motorized open and close helmet
    -redo the concept helmet
-wire up a bottle rocket hehehe

    leg/pants armor update

keeping the armor closer to the movie then going with the concept. anyways man... using high impact urethane plastic can take a beating! i literally threw this thing at the wall, and hit it with a bat couple of times. and no damage what so ever. especially reinforcing up the rivets. little bit heavy, but not much "well to me its like holding onto your wallet barely noticeable", stronger then fiberglass and alot more flexible. wish i had some of this stuff when i first made my ironman . oh well warmachine is in dah house hehehe. hope everyone is enjoying my progress.

Is the helmet auto flip up? And I think it needs to flip up farther on your forehead, looks a little too low down if you ask me.

Re: Iron Man Armor (Sintra) !WIP!

it opens more but the neck piece got in the way, so i need to trim the helmet rear side more.

Re: Iron Man Armor (Sintra) !WIP!

    Update on War Machine Armor.
finally finished the helmet, and here are some reason why my armor look the way it does. The reason being is that i used Phil Saunders War machine concept and balanced some of the New IronMan 2 Armor design in to the concept, hench forth a hybrid War Machine Armor. I seen the leaked Ironman 2 from Comic-Con San Deigeo 2009 and most of the design i did fall REALLY close to the War machine armor. so im really ecited Hope you enjoy my journey of creating the armor

    few things life to do
    -Light up eyes
    -flip helmet
    -finish gloves
-get new batterys for my mini gun XD

Masterle247, Can you possibly give some explanation + parts to get the visor to lift like that with linkage and servos?
I would really like to try and whip something like that up, but I am always one to ask those who have been on the road ahead of me how it is done.

If you like, you can Email me your build info and in return, I have some very cool armouring techniques you can use to enclose your inner elbows and backs of your knees.
