I got my armor today im very pleased with it thanks Kevin! here is some photos of it i have some questions though where should i begin, this is my first costume and i never worked with raw kits before
start by cutting out the armour, dremeling then use a fine grit sandpaper to smooth edges. Join the knee pieces, the thigh holsters and the gauntlets. Judging by pics, you look as small as I am... I have trouble with fitting my gauntlets properly and I have to pad them out like crazy. I've also added padding to my holsters so my precious Woodchuck blasters don't get damaged.
Then add 2 coats of clear plastic primer (I used a brand called Plastikote - not sure where this is available throughout the world though) make sure you don't make my mistake, spray it all in a ventilated area
Then add 2 coats of paint. I added a darker colour - just 1 coat, then on top i added a lighter colour. When it comes to weathering, you'll sand it back and have some nice layered colours. I'm going to be uploading a video on my weathering technique i used after all our major troops that are coming up are over.
Hi thanks Ash for your help it helped me Little more so now im Little more certain of what to do . As you say im very petite and quite thin so the gauntlets is very big on me i have thinking about adding some sort of padding to make it fit. I look forward to see your weathering technique your armor looks awsome
Hi i got my blasters today and im very happy with them i love that light they hav its so bright! i also got some work done with the gauntlets i dremeld out the button holes and cut the holes for the darts
News for today i have assembled the knee armorings together pics come soon, and Yes thats right i have used a low speed on the dremel but the plastics became quite warm and it smelled quite strong! so i had the windows open
Looking forward to seing this one finished! Cool that someone in the neighbor country are also making it
I should probably start my own build thread soon though
Hi! i have been working on my boots and some more on the knee armorings. I have been weathering the boots and removed the brand sigils, the boots still need some more weathering on the sole, but this is a begining. The knee armoring was first to small on me so i had to expand it a little with plastic welding, it now looks awful but i will sanding it so they become smooth smile.gif
Here is the photos of the gauntles that i have bonding together! they need to dry for tomorrow. they still need to be smoothed out as the knee armor needs, but now they fits my arm perfectly and need later a sort of hinging
