Well, I think I am finally done with my Han Solo in Carbonite. Took a few months, a small budget, many hours of work, and allot of patience! I am very happy with this scratchbuild, considering it was my first attempt and I pretty much winged it.
Before I post the final pictues, I wanted to show the last major detail to my Boba Fett. I finally got around to weathering the cape. I used my Tech Torch, a wire brush, scissors, Sand, Brown, and Flat Black spray paint, and some dirt and grease from my car tires. Looks much better in person, the pictures don't do it justice.
It came out nice, although not screen accurate.
To mount HIC, I bought some black chain from Home Depot and screwed 2 lengths to the wall studs. I then screwed the other end to the studs in HIC.
I also added one more length to the top; I wanted to make sure this did not fall on anyone! I also mounted the light I bought from Ikea, then added it to the remote switch that controls my display cabinets. Now everything comes on at once.
I am having a small piece of blue glass cut that I can swap out with the frosted piece that came with the lamp. Once I see how it looks I will decide which one to use.
You'll have to excuse the dust on the piece, I forgot to wipe it off before taking the picture.
I think down the road I am going to try this again, now that I know what I did wrong and what I could do better. I like how it turned out, but there are a few things I would definitely change.
The final price on this, about $308.00 in materials, give or take a few dollars. Not bad in my opinion, considering some of the alternatives. Of course, add in the time it took to build and the price goes up a little!
Thanks for all the input and praise, it was nice to hear from all of you. Keep you eyes open, I will probably be selling this piece down the road if anyone is interested!!!
