I used 5 Toggler Toggles rated at 200 pounds (the HIC weighs in at 116 pounds) to attach it to a wall with steel studs with a french cleat mount. I put the cleat on a 16" 2x3 on the back that I reinforced with L brackets to keep it in place. The back panel of the HIC is a single piece of plywood attached to a centered sub frame inside the HIC. The LED kit is attached 4" in on all four sides of the panel with the controller secured to the bottom of the back panel. The LED remote sensor is simply hanging out behind the bottom. It's very sensitive and does not need to be placed anywhere specific. There is also another small 2x3 on the bottom to ensure consistent spacing from the wall as well as keep undo stress off the cleat. The result is a HIC that appears to float off the of wall by 3 inches. The LED controller has 8 brightness levels. I am using level 3. I took a side photo of the cleat with the brackets on the wall.
Anyway, here's the HIC with the lighting kit behind it. What do you guys think??
Awesome!!! I did the same, after reading your first post, and looks awesome. But mine is too close to the corner of the room and does not look as good as yours. Red is best color for me!
Thanks juanmatroop! Did you post any hanging pics? I must have missed them. You could always add a mirror to the side wall to give it added depth for the lighting.
