Interest in HIC Complete Frontal Cast

Ok the time is here to start playing with this sexy HIC I have. (IC).

Im making a face mold right now, and its about done. Im going to do them in a lightweight polyu. Shipping should be really cheap.

I dont know the cost, Probably somewhere in the $50 price range. Im not doing a run at the moment because someone has already beat me to them in the cargo hold.

I am however guaging interest in a FULL FRONTAL

I am contemplating doing it in multiple fashions. One a lightweight polyu. in three pieces that can be seamed together.

I will probably cast them as one piece, then cut them in places where the details will not get destroyed.

I also have tossed around the idea of a hard rubber HIC. That way it could be shipped cheap and easy and never worry about breaking.

The third idea is a smaller sub three piece. Face, Hands, Torso. The rest can be made pretty easily.

Finally perhaps the control boxes on the sides seperately.

Now, pricing? Thats a tough one. The silicone is going to be PRICY as this piece is 6'4'' tall. Im only going to mold the front/textured part.

I want to backfill the voids with hardening foam to make it much more robust without adding shipping weight.

    Individuals could either:
A hang it on the wall/door
B build a box and make a complete

So, with that being said, your thoughts? Interest?

Definately sounds interesting. i was going to get in on a run on the RPF years ago, but it was super spendy and the shipping was a huge issue. Interested to see what you come up with!!!

i'm going to get one of the faces that's up in the cargo hold now. i'd love to get a set of hands from somewhere.

building the body is pretty easy. it's the face and hands that are tough.

    Interested depending on pricing/shipping costs.

I'm thinking of making a HIC for my squads Christmas parade float for next year. What better gift for a Bounty Hunter to give to the top ganster on his wish list?

i'm curious to see how your resolve the undercut issues that you may encounter. when molding the full front of HIC.

Depending on the flatness of the sculpt I would think it might be hard to demold the hands/ torso/head all in one solid piece.

i do think individual pieces would be easiest.

Re: Interest in HIC Complete Frontal Cast

The undercuts wouldnt be a big deal, The only place theres even a little bit of an undercut is the hands, and the chin. And the hands you can see they made them almost vertical lines from the back and fingers, so to avoid the problem of making a mold

It depends on how thick I make the mold. The face is done, im going to do a test pull or two. I have some ULTRA light foam ish style resin im going to try. should make for a real nice and quick and cheap face

I Don't mean to put a Damper on your parade, but this is more than Likely going to run you at minimum $500.00 and up. VashDstampede did a run on these a while back and they were AWESOME!!!! but he like others found this, well.. in all honesty to be much more of a pain then what it's worth. First, you have to buy the material, Which most who start this kind of project will ask for people to help by donating funds, That in itself is a slippery slope because you always run the risk of people paying up front and getting no product. Second, comes the issue of shipping: Overseas is a Nightmare, let alone stateside and Third: You've got to start off small then up the numbers, Start the List with 5 or 10 at best, I've seen these threads as many of you here have as well, time and time again, think "Bowjunkie " RPF and you'll know what I mean.

By no means am I trying to discourage you. I wanted to do a run of Side Panels and still do, but the Military comes first, So again think hard about what you're getting into, do but if you do, GOD SPEED. "Semper" C

Here's what your Product would look like if you do decide to pursue it.

i'm still voting for hands and face.

thrift store pants and shirt, some crumpled up newspaper, and a TON of latex paint got me here:

(ignore the face and hands, i sculpted those)

that cost me about $50 to make. getting the likeness in clothe is pretty easy. getting the face and hands right is ROUGH.

Getting that Look is very hard even with a casting. The biggest problem is getting the finer details out of the face which VashDstampede did, but he can tell you it did take a coulple of times to get it right you've got the spacing between the mouth and teeth.

Exciting to see what you come up with. I just ordered the face cast myself, and I intend to attempt the rest on my own. Good to know that I will have others to bounce ideas off of for this project. I may not be able to begin for a month or so due to time restraints, but will post progress, once I start building. Good luck to you.

    generally interested in !

A casting of the side panels would be nice, too !

Some people got ripped from a guy at the RPF with a side-panel run and never received their parts, so there´s a market, believe me...

Rubber? Might work, so count me interested depending on price... I have the face, but if you can do it I wont have to make my own.

Re: Interest in HIC Complete Frontal Cast

Right now i have his head cast. Im working with alumilite to get a 5 gallon pail of their P2 resin.

Its in a barrell in the top back and they are reluctant to open it up for me, at least atm.

Im still looking at the best way to do this. and im still thinking rubber is the way to go. My only concern is going to be the hands. everything else is no big deal.

I do agree though theres going to be 200 in just rubber to pull one.

I really do think its doable though. I did the head pull mainly to make sure the platinum silicone would cure against the firberglass and paint.

Realistically your looking at 300-500 bucks shipped for one of these full castings.

Hands and face 150 ish. Upper torso probably 200-350.

Its my next project after the webley, which had to be done now as opposed to later. Which is well underway.

Ill pull a face in rubber this week and post some pics.

Re: Interest in HIC Complete Frontal Cast

On a side note, if you take a rubber casting, vac pull the boxes for the sides, and put this all on the pink insulation styrofoam you could make a HAC that weighed about 25 lbs to carry in parades, 4 stormtroopers carrying it = no problem

One thing though, i never take a penny or make a list until im ready to deliver. That may be the only redeeming quality i have

Well, I'm new to the forum. After deciding that I wanted to make my own HIC and searching around the internet, I came upon the build by azheat and was astonished at what can be done in your own house. I was planning on utilizing a similar setup, but I am intrigued by how this project of yours may come out.

Having a full accurate frontal might be a good option. And I take it rolling it for shipping wouldn't damage it while in transit?

Sorry if that is a noob question.

Hi I posted awhile back when you were gauging interest and was away for awhile and missed that you started making them. I still cant post in the CH but I wanted to let you know I'm very interested in a full frontal cast. I'm not ready to buy immediately but absolutely will be in the next few weeks. I've wanted one of these for awhile to go next to my Boba mannequin. Thanks for offering these, they look fantastic!

I'm pretty new to the site and can't post in the Cargo Hold yet. From what I gather, you are done making HIC molds right now? I'm wondering if there is a time frame when you might start making them again? And is it just easiest to keep checking the forums? Thanks in advance. I'm wanting the HIC pieces. Can pay ASAP.

I thought the exact same thing. I did a google search of acronyms and found a huge list, but nothing that had to do with casting or hobbies. The best was the Horseradish Information Council.

    Sorry for the thread resurrection.

I am VERY interested in a set of the side panels when you get ready to do the run. For everyone else, I received Stormrider's rubber full frontal HIC about two months ago and his work is unbelievable!!! I have been extremely pleased with how he handles the communication. I do agree with a previous poster that there is a market for the side panels. I have seen some pretty crummy ones being offered at a huge cost. The wonderful result of supply and demand I guess... Have a Happy and Safe Holiday Season Everyone!!!!!
