HIC Vendors

I've decided to tackle the HIC, but after a lot of researching on this forum as well as some other websites I can't seem to find many vendors. I'm sure I'm not the only one with this question, but is there a list of vendors somewhere? If anyone can suggest a vendor that sells a completed HIC that would be awesome. Maybe additional details such as accuracy and such. The only vendor I know of thus far that does a complete HIC is MonCal. Any other input or advice would be great. Thanks much!

Greetings,

I'm new here as well, but you should look up Darthchromer for the front casting. As soon as he fills orders for the front casting, he will offer side panels and greebles for side panels. If you fill an order with him then the rest of us looking for side panels will be most greatful. Lol

Check out Zenix for CNC machined cutout frame boxes. They are pretty nice looking.

Use search for any remaining loose ends.

Cheers

I would have mentioned you Stormrider but I thought your orders for fronts was full. I will just keep my pie hole shut next time.

No worries m8. I'm doing a full run. I just don't want to hold money longer than I need to. I'll be opening 5 more slots soon. so don't feel bad. I've been gone a while.

I'm new to the scene as well but I haven't seen anyone selling a complete han in carbonite with electronics unless their parting with their own. The illusive original piece in the 90's didn't have electronics, and that's going for anywhere from 2-4 thousand on eBay. For an accurate piece, expect to pay 300 for the box, almost 500 for han and another 600+ for the side panels with extras not including electronics.

Anakin was right on everything. I don't have anything out of the box. DarthChromer does great work, he is doing fronts now I believe, similar to mine. He reconditioned one, took paint off, cleaned up some tool marks, the same as I did. I cant say anything bad about his casts, as I haven't seen one in person. I hear they are great. I hear mine are great too:) Location and wait time are the main things when deciding on the front casts. Outside of DarthC and Me, I have heard horror stories about peoples casts. There is a guy on THERPF selling copies of a second rate han parts casting I sold him. I have had to help people rebuild them and sent hands and feet to help them out, after getting scammed. So my advice is buy a DarthChromer or my front, or someone else that is reputable and can show pictures of their originals, so you don't buy a terrible reproduction. A han pieces should cost 300-400 shipped. A full front 400-500 shipped. I used to do cold cast like fronts, already silver ready for display, but no longer do.

By the way, I have no reason to tout DarthChromer, I have never met him, I have never talked to him, but I know he does good work, is reputable, and my goal is to make sure people get the best items they can for their hard earned money.

DarthC also does amazing side panels and greebles, so that's where to go on that. I have a Volvo panel. I just haven't made the molds for it yet. I doubt I will be able to do the greebles as well as Darth without significant work, so I have stayed away from it.

So to sum this up:

You can do a HIC parts (just the han parts) for 300 ish, and make your own box out of mdf, for another 40 if you have cutting tools. 80 if you take it to a sign shop. The side panels without lights (the Illulsive Concepts HIC didn't have lights, and the panels were TERRIBLE) can be gotten for 100-200. So for around 600-800 you can build a box that will impress 95% of people.

I hope that helps.

Mike

Hey Mike, thanks so much for all that info. And thanks to everyone for their input. It's amazing how much time we spend surfing forums trying to sort all of this out. Thanks to kind folks like you that have tread the path before me it makes things easier!

I've been talking with moncal/ studio creations and they say they can do a HIC ready out of the box. Think they had one at CVIs 501st party in Orlando last year but I wasn't in the 501st yet so I didn't see it. Saw pics on their site and it looks good. Has anyone seen or bought one of theirs?

I have a good mold with only about 8-10 pulls on it, but have been hesitant to order rubber, its expensive and shipping was going up during the last run.

How many people would want HIC han parts instead of the full front. Those are easier to ship and use far less rubber. About half the weight.

I sent you a private message (an email from your profile) Im very keen for a full front and as soon as you can possibly do some. Could you possibly reply to that email and let me know what the costs are as well as shipping to Oldsmar Florida 34677.

Im pretty sure I emailed you my phone number as well if you want to discuss it over the phone

I will call tomorrow and see what rubber is going to cost me. Shipping and materials beat me up last run. But I think I can get enough rubber in to do 4-5, but I would prefer doing han parts as opposed to full fronts.

Why dont you give me a call, i will shoot you my number again in a private message and we can see what we can T up. Im trying to get this before the 20th March if possible

I ship virtually anywhere. And I don't charge more than the real shipping.

Its way easier for me to do the hic parts right now. The full fronts use a ton of rubber and people complain about thin spots. Which I am not in the mental capacity to deal with.

So I will be doing 5-10 HIC parts /pieces soon.
