Who makes the most a decent Stormtrooper helmet?

DrifterTrooper

New Hunter
I've seen several in the under $200 range but they all have complaints. Im building a Blackhole(shadow) trooper on a request from my girlfriend, who wants to dress like leia and be escorted around. Im having to build it due to my size(6'6" 265) but i dont think im good enough for a helmet. Any tips on buying a helmet (or large stormtrooper armor) is helpful. Im new in the Star Wars world and have gained a new respect for the creativity of the fans.

Oh no. This thread has the potential to get ugly, so lets do our best to avoid it, okay.

Anyway to try and answer this objectively, if you want movie accurate there are a few options but they will be around that price or a bit more:

I have an AP--Authenticprops.

whiteamor is the place to go to learn what you need to learn about the stormys...theres alot of helmets out there depends on your budget too

Problem witht the licensed helmets is you need to do alot of modifications to them to be approvable for the 501st.
But if you're not trying to get approved with it, they are pretty good.

Thanks guys yall have all been super helpful and i was wondering what you meant about mods to the licensed helmets? I just wanted some more knowledgable opinions. I am just looking for something less than say $800 total and if its white no biggy im a car guy too so ive painted ABS and styrene before. Planned on a few custom touches too, but i might not.

Agree with Muad'Dib, also, if it is specifically a Shadow trooper what you are making, I suggest you also go to the spec ops detachment forum, there is an ongoing tread on (if any) modifications needed for this particular helmet to be 501st approved

There is a seam that needs filled that runs across the face from under one cheek tube, up under the frown, and around under the other face tube. The ears need mods and screws added. And it will need a complete repaint.

For all that, you might as well spend the extra $40-$60 on top of what these cost and get an actual MOVIE accurate kit.

Not to sound like im being sarcastic, but you guys really are freakin geniuses. I had no idea it was this complicated. I looked into building my own. Do you think that would be the way to go on the armor for my size difference?

I know theres clone armor that WILL fit you...the tall set is made for 6 foot plus guys. But....a Vader costume would be more $$ but suit your height better. I dont know how much skillz you have but its not exactly easy to shape all the parts for this. Check out whitearmor and the spec ops det and see how taller guys deal with the height issue.
