Vader in is cold, cold cast that is!

About a month ago I bought a mold from DV that is a of a cleaned up DP Classic Action helmet. DV did not want to make helmets and I thought what the heck. Let's see what I can do with this. My first goal was to do on in all black. Well the jet black resin I was testing did not like to go like I wanted. No matter what I did to test is always bubbled! :angry The helmet looked like it had been set on fire! That would have been great is that was the look I was going for.

So, what was I to do? Why not cold cast it? I have that down. So, I have to show Vader in cold cast. I have had time to cast 1 helmet and that is about it. In reality, it like casting 2 helmets. The inside of the dome is cast in the black that I was hoping to do the main helmet in. This a work in progress as well. I was hoping to get a set of machine tusks but, 2 are $160. Or I can order 30 at $17 each! So, I will most likely get them from somebody else and not my local machine shop.

So, here is what I have done so far. To get this far has only taken a month! That full time job just gets in the way of my hobbies! I am working on getting somebody who know's how to make this guy shine to see what it can really look like.

So, what do you think? Other than I am just a little nuts. :D

Looks like you are going to take more of my money. I am afraid my wife is going to make me stay away from you.

It is looking pretty cool.

Thanks for the kinds words guys. I did a small test today and it came out okay. I tented the same resin I used for the cold cast and added black tint. It came out this sort of transparent black/red. Sort of cool, just not what I hoping for.

I did cast a second helmet today. It is for sale at a discount until I figure out how I fully want to do the cold cast and just cast the helmet in general. If you would like to buy it there is a test. TEST?!?! :facepalm Hope you studied! At least it is not a pop quiz. I hated those  You need to email me. <--- test part. Please don't PM or post in this thread for that info. What I am looking for is somebody who has done one of my helmets before and understands how to get the cold cast to look nice.

he knows it's not needed, this is vanity vader.
Well off cause he does ,, I was being ironic

How ever Ive just realised you are doing them in slush polly , so it makes more sense why you did it that way,,
Just get some black pigment it will turn neutral, or white pollys black with only a few drips in the mix

Nice! i love it lol. Yea Vader is a pain in the butt! It IS like doing 2 helmets! I did them in Fiberglass, so you can imagine the time and work that took!... but i think if anyone can get this method working right,it would be you bro! I kept 1final fiberglass casting for myself...but I may just want a coldcast one heh.:D
