TFU Royal Guard (variant?)

I'll state this now. I havent played the game. But.. i have cheated and watched a few of the cutscenes. In them i noticed the Royal Guards (not the Shadow Guards). It looks to me like they've got a slightly different helmet than the norm. It looks less.. sleek ? i think is the right word. Is this just a variation because of the game animation or a purposefull variant ? Also i noticed that the guards i noticed werent wearing the ever-present red cloak. Revealing the armor beneath, which isnt quite the same as shown in Crimson Empire. Again was this on purpose or ... ???

To see what i'm getting at take a peek at the below video starting at about the 3:10 mark. The best shot of what i'm meaning is at appx the 3:23 and 3:26 marks, behind and to the right of Vader.

I'll try to get the hi-res cutscenes and get some better screen caps of what i'm talking about. But for now... whats the concensus ?

It could be. The helmet is almost right, SW's didn't have a T tho, just a crossbar slit for the eyes, and the body armor looks very similar. But, cannon-wise, there hasn't been Sith Warriors since the days of Lord Kaan and his buddies.

Would Palps have resurrected the Sith Warrior class ?

just for convenience so everyone knows what the game characters look like heres a screen cap from the cutscene

Ach..thank you for that. I'll get some higher res pics posted up tomorow sometime. But that poor little red dude on the right is the subject of my curiosity.

Shadow Guard Variant.

It is the armour modeled for the Shadow Guard, with Red colouration. At this point in the story, one can assume the secret apprentice has destroyed all the Dark Side empowered Shadow Guard, leaving only the red clad Imperial Guard of the original trilogy.

I say assume because the Light Side ending to the The Force Unleashed story is meant to be canon. It should therefore dovetail into A New Hope. For that to be, it would make sense that the Shadow Guard would be extinct.

I would further venture to guess that the inclusion of the Imperial Guard wearing the under armour of the Shadow Guard in Red, was more of cool looking convenience than an attempt to further subdivide the units of the Empire's Guards.

In practical terms, I'd view it like Crimson Empire armour. Done right, and I'd support its inclusion in the 501st under Royal Guard (TR.)

Be well,
Thomas

Thank you for clearing that up Thomas. I can definitely see how that's just the Shadow Guard armor painted red now.

Actually, I'd like to say one thing.

The chest armor looks much like stormtrooper armor...

Check out these high res pictures:

And finally, the same Guard, which I photoshopped to look black:

Definitely looks much like stormtrooper chest and lower abs armor to me...

Chime in as to what you guys think please

the abs are like stormtrooper abs, but I don't think they have the buttons and ridges section. The chest is almost certainly ROTJ stormtrooper armor

All the armors for the Royal Guards are the same but with diferent colors. Chest armor it's like the ones for the stormtroopers (back armor doesn't have any of the stormtrooper armor detail). Abs armor it's similar to the ones for the stormtroopers, without buttons and only 3 sections. The shin and foot armor it's similar to Jango Fett's shin and foot armor. The shoulders and the gaunlets are similar to the ones of the stormtroopers, but without details (and the shoulders have somekind of T-Shape). They also wear kamas... They use high boots too...

i agree that you could get away with modded stormtrooper armor and jango fett pieces for the armor.

the shins look dead on for jango and the footplates are similar. the forearms I would say look like a dumbed down stormtrooper forearm, the shoulders you could use stormtrooper bells for reference but they actually look more like heavy armor on something out of the halo universe... the ab plate looks fairly original
