Might be a RS recast because of the sharp vocoder? Why do you guys shoot first and ask later?

Looks more like a TE SFS (Set For Stun) or a recast of it. They were made in one piece fiberglass.

I'll look up the "TE SFS" and see where it came from

EDIT: looks like the TE SFS helmets came from scans of actual helmets

Yes, I forgot about the SFS helmet, and yes, they come from an OLD scan of a stunt helmet. It's fun to see it's the same helmet being sold on eBay for a few months.

Re: Where did this come from?

Yeah, the SFS 1:1 scale helmets were made by CNC-ing a block of foam making a master, and moulding it, using the 3D-scan of the SFS helmet. They lost some details in the process but later on a miniature (1:3 scale) SFS helmet was 3D-printed which kept the original details captured in the scan and that master was later moulded and minitures were made in 2 runs on the RPF. I actually have one of those from the 2nd run. I think RS is now in possession of the miniture mould.

I think TE also made some vac formed SFS helmets in HDPE. How he produced the vac moulds from 1-piece cast however is beyond my knowledge of mould making. Maybe Chris knows how that could be done?

    Most cases, absolutely !

This one looks REALLY clean. Though I'm still inclined to believe it to be a recast in spite of that. Mainly because I don't recall ever seeing a slush cast of one of these. Ever. But I could be wrong.

I had (and sold) two of them in glass.

How much did genuine versions of the TE SFS sell for?

I got 425-450 for the genuine glass pulls. That was back in 2008.

Re: Where did this come from?

An accurate stormie helmet is usually more expensive than accurate fett helmet, don't ask me why... And there are a lot more of accurate stormie helmets than fett's.

You'd think accurate fett helmets would be worth more due to less of them around

Higher demand Id say on the storm trooper front, there are probably 20:1 at least to the Fett man.

Re: Where did this come from?

    That's insane

EDIT: Just compared my helmet with images from this FS thread> http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/f31/r...e-ultra-42485/
I've checked each and every detail on my helmet and what I can gather is that this is indeed a TE SFS helmet. OR a very detailed, VERY well created recast- every minor detail looks exact.

EDIT 2: I've checked some of the imperfections on the raw cast kits that people have gotten, and this helmet has the EXACT same marks and dips

So it's a recast, I can't remember TE doing resin casts or any other full size SFS made out of resin.

Yep, usually ugly pieces are recasts but not all the recasts are ugly.

That's for sure, I don't really care it's a recast, not that I support them but if it's already done, well... It's done.

Most storm trooper stuff is recast of something or another.

Indeed. We have TE to thank for that. But there are at least people with some "rights", like AP and TE2. And then of course there's TM with his own sculpt and RS with their own 1st gen cast. And CFO with their ROTJ stuff. So there's still some hope.

Patience and keen eyes my friend.

Oh, and about 14 pages worth of flame war in a thread on FISD where they try to clean up the TE-linage history before Gino and TE join in start to battle it out.

Well, not the helmets so much, but what they claim really happened many years ago. Here's the thread if you ever feel the need for some drama.

We (I say 'we' as I'm part of the staff there) closed it to guests because the server we share with other 501st detachments is under heavy load by bots crawling the content and it needs to be sorted out before we open it to guests again.

if it's a recast it would still have all of the imperfections of the original casting. $15... what a steal! the resin would cost more than that!

The one I have has almost all those imperfections, but i've confirmed it with people who actually own one or some of these. Mine is definitely a recast
