TCW scratch build bucket

New Hunter
Greetings all,

I just wanted to share my progress on my TCW bucket, I'm currently in the bondoing process to smooth out the dome and shape. I still have alot of bondoing and sanding to do, so its kind of rough. I would appreciate any comments or advice.

WOW! I still can't get over how you guys do this folded-paper technique! It is so amazing to me the patience it must take.

Thanks, this method does require a lot of patience and effort. I had to rip the thing apart several times to get it right, then again this is my first attempt at a paper build.

it could just be perspective, but that looks REALLY skinny at the top. like it tapers way too much. how does it fit? have you been able to try it on?

Perhaps the perspective angle of the previous pictures and the blocky dome is responsible for the tapered skinny look. I have smoothed and rounded out the helmet more after tedious sanding. The pictures below show a comparison of the provincial Hasbro bucket and my scratch build. As you can see the width of the base is very close and the width is not very far from the width of the Hasbro helmet. Also, I understand the Hasbro dimensions are a bit exaggerated as I'm sure some of you know. I have about a quarter inch of space on both sides of the helmet when I wear it and could still use padding to fit snuggly. My head is average size, but I agree the dome still needs some rounding and shaping.

I have been looking at a few animated clone grunt peps of late - thats rundowns isnt it?
I really like the pep from teh eye-brow and below. Was thinking that that dome needs beefing up a bit more though.
So far, all the ones I have seen seem very tapered on the top. that comparison shot with the Hasbro is probably the most telling. Aas already mentioned by the other posters, I am sure that it isnt meant to taper that much. Still its a nice base to build up on.
