Stormtrooper helmet advice?

It looks like it is a recast FX bucket, which I do not care for. They are not very accurate, and are very very oversized. Being made of fiberglass, it is probably heavy, and will be unwieldy to work with if the pieces do not line up. Also, I do not support recasters, and I am not even sure why someone would recast an FX bucket anyway. The original FX lids are not made of fiberglass, and have not been to my knowledge.

I would head over to FISD, and take a peak there. I know that I few days ago someone ws selling some B-grade AP buckets for about 125 dollars or so. Also look at the MTK kits there. I have heard very good things from his kits, and he is a great guy to work with.
 
+1 to what Trout said. Stay away from that thing....

B-grade AP helmets are a great deal and you will also find people selling other kits from time to time. I'd say the best of all right now is an RS props kit -- 1st generation cast off screen used original helmets and armor. Can't beat that!

Sorry for the misunderstanding, i meant the Stormie helmet in general
are there any OT projects which may be more suited to a very beginner such as i?
Like i said i have no experience in costuming, but have had some experience in art, model kits previously

If you want something fairly easy and cheap to start off with, get an imperal crewman or something. It's basically just a black jumpsuit, some boots, a leather belt and a cap. Of course, it has to have the right style of boots and the greblies and so on, but it's a lot easier and cheaper than a good boba or a stomtrooper.

But if you really want a stormtrooper, FISD is the right place to be. All you need is there to be found and learned.

Good luck man. In addition to Jango, I am working on a Sandtrooper, and I would be happy to help. I would never tell anyone it is a good idea to do what I am doing and work on two suits at once either. Lesson learned on my part, and it is a better idea to pick on, research it, and focus on that one until completion.

The good stormie helmet kits are not too terribly hard to work with, and there are some great tutorials out there to help you. I actually just finished the basic assembly on a CAP helmet from Scootch, and it was much easier than I thought it would be. The ear parts were the hardest, but not bad if you take your time.

Also, where are you located? I would be willing to bet that you can find some people in your local 501st garrison that can help you with your endeavor.
 
I have worked on a 2 - part helmet (plus the 2 ear pieces) from an original sculpt of my own that was an AP Hero model style and it was a pain in the arse to assemble and it had a lot of work involved - cutting and trimming, painting etc. but it turned out very nice. It was vacuformed from ABS plastic and has a strong finish and is very shiny and slick. I have also molded it with rebound 25 and it turned out GREAT! I actually like the one piece, solid feel to it and it isn't all that much heavier. If you are not great at modeling and that sort of thing, I would recommend buying a one piece resin copy rather than the abs version. Just my opinion. If you can sculpt, go for it because you have the satisfaction of making the entire process uniquely yours from scratch.I hate the FX version you linked, as Trout said, it is grossly oversized and horrendous looking unless you want to look like a bobble head. Also, as has been said ad naseum, shy away from Ebay for the most part, it is full of douche bags selling garbage.
