    Feb 12, 2012, 6:41 PM - Rubies 'collectors' clone trooper helmet... #1

I'm probably going to be murdered for asking this question...
But i'm asking it anyway- Would the rubies be a cheap way of attaining a complete clone trooper helmet? if you could call it that
Only reason I'm asking is I don't want to be paying over $50 for it since it's going to be a display item

I understand that concept well- i'm just saying... for it's price- would it be a 'decent' display item?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and the education level of the person looking at the display. I had a Rubies scout helmet for years, then I started my research for 501st membership. Needless to say the screen accuracy and beauty of it compared to the screen ones and what other helmets members have produced left it very lacking. Sometimes ignorance is bliss. That being said I haven't looked that close at a Rubies clone. Does it look "good enough for government" to you? People do get Rubies as their starter helmet then modify them to look like some mighty fine pieces of hardware. The never ending formula of time and money to get what you want.

There are helmet producers out there on various boards that make some awesome buckets for around $150, maybe cheaper. With some sanding, cutting, and painting you can have a great looking bucket you would be proud to display.

It is up to you man. The Rubies helmet is undersized and shaped very wrong to my eyes. I would not display it, but you have to decide for yourself what you spend your money on. If it makes you happy, and is close enough for you, go for it. It really does not matter what we think

Would most people notice? Probably not, but I personally would prefer a movie prop to be as close as possible to the movie. I would rather save up longer and get quality then buy something I may regret later. Like Fett 4 Real said... You get what you pay for.

I guess I'll be saving up for a while longer then

EDIT: what is the most amount of money I should be paying for a rubies? on ebay they sell for $140-60 here in Australia

Shoot I have a scifire clone helmet that I got for a very good price....I wouldnt pay that for a rubies let alone buy one really from star wars helmets .com
Now this is the disappointing one. Having now seen Rubies "Collectors" Clone Trooper (Ref 65002) at Memorabilia in August, it's less than impressive, and seriously undersize.
