Republic Commando Build

New Hunter
Hey Guys,

Has anyone here built a kit from Polymer Armory for an RC? I'm looking for any tips you might have. I just ordered the helmet last week so I'll be expecting it anytime now.
Does anyone know about the thickness on those? I was thinking I might be reinforcing it with fiberglass. Would it be too difficult?

any thoughts you guys have, shoot 'em my way.

p.s. I'll post pictures as soon as it gets here

Havent seen one of thier kits TZA (triple zero armory) I have seen and theirs looks great. A great place to discuss this is really on clonetroopers.net thouogh whole site and a section just for the RC. There is one member here Boba De Wix(spelling?) who has a really nice RC not sure who made the armor though

I have a PA kit.. the helmet is pretty think and bulky - no need to reinforce it at all. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks, that should save me a pretty penny.
I do have a question, what did you use for the inside of your bucket? I'm hearing everything from pipe insulation to knee pads?

yes sir, right away sir.

my helmet kit came in on Friday, and of course, I acted like a kid on Christmas...

took everything and laid it out... too excited to start

when it came to the visor, i was a bit weary of messing up(understandably i hope) so I decided to cut inside and work my way out.
i started by drawing the line i was going to follow will the Dremel

them i took the sanding attachment and files, and went to town on it...

after sanding:

then the file:

put together a mock up

the arrows are for the area's that are to be Bondoed,
before i started with the Bondo, I taped off the areas surrounding, to try and minimize the excess Bondo

while i was at it, i decided to make the opening bigger, it would rub against my ears when i put it on/took it off.

after the tape came off

in the long run, it made things way easier

and while i waited for the Bondo to cure... my Kitteh got some much needed attention

went to work with some sand paper and my exacto knife... weathering is all done, did a final mock up too before i start the interior.

also, because i thought it might add to the realism... i added one big hit, since in all the helmets and protective gear i have ever owned, i always take one major tumble

inside my bucket i use the padding from a baseball batting helmet (you can buy it separately). it just takes a little trial and error as to where to place what piece. start with the top of your head, so your eyes line up right with the visor, then the sides so it doesn't go left / right too much, and lastly, the back.

I'm also interested in doing an Imperial Commando build. Any information on where you got the helmet files from? Google's not helping at all.
