PROJECT: Budget Sith lord mask

New Hunter
Hi all,
I'm writing a LARP event and I plan to include a Sith lord and its minions. I want the caracters to be mysterious and impressive, so I think that a mask would be perfect for them.
I kinda like Darth Nihilus mask and Grievous head, so the mask would be inspired by thes shapes.

When you search for Darth Nihilus mask pictures on the web, one of the first results is a guy's costuming page. One of the pics shows the guy wearing the costume wihtout the mask. The face looks familiar. I've seen him before with a Jayne Cobb's costume. And may be a SW costume. Wait a sec, that's Stormtrooperguy !!!:D
Antoher result points to a blog of a guy doing Mando stuffs too , and one of the results is a thread here on TDH. So TDH must be the place to find ideas and help for my project !

So, Here's what I want to make:
1 Sith Lord mask and 5 Sith minions, plus 1 broken (lightsaber cut) sith minion mask. All wearable and allowing the wearers to speak and see easely.
3 month to make them
No budget at all

I think I should use papier maché masks technique. I mold a prototype (two, actually), have it covered with papier maché (10 layers) to build a mask, then sand it, prime it and paint it. I wish to avoid using bondo or resin.

Did someone already built such masks ? With quality results (Papier maché looks fine for kids masks, but is it OK if you want a regular and smooth surface ?)

Here are the first models for the masks. they won't be painted white; may be copper, metal or grey (and some may include heavy weathering)

You might also look into using something along the lines of a Phantom of the Opera style mask. Looks like you could pull it off with a little build up of the brows and extending the, uh...nose frame?

Have a basic white mask that exactly looks like "Phatom of the Opera", and I planned on using it as a basis. But as you pointed it, I'll have to work on brows and cheekbones, though I don't know yet if I make them smooth (Comedia del Arte style) or if I just get rid of them (Hockey mask Style).

I really like the Commedia del Arte look, in general, and specifically for a Sith Lord. I mean, the whole point of a Sith Lord is to manipulate people for their own gain, right? Inspiring fear does that, and Commedia del Arte masks can indeed be terrifying.

What about the sith lord from the novel cross curent he is a kalash and wears the kalaye hunting mask , you could go for some thing like that havnt seen any one else do it could look good.

Jinto, the mask you're talking about looks darn good, but it's really complicated to build with low budget.

My first try with papier maché was a disaster (couldn't get a smooth texture, every detail was wiped away by the layers of paper...)
So I'm having another try based on a Iron Man face mask (pepakura). I'll sculpt it to get a clean master, and I'll find a way to make a cheap mold (plaster + resin ?).
