    PLEASE READ!

    This is a new forum we are testing to see how much interest there is in the discussion of other Star Wars costumes, besides those already covered by their own specific forum. This will help ensure the Sarlacc Pit, our OT forum, remains strictly OT. We welcome suggestions for a a more appropriate name for this forum.

    Well since this has now been created, should my Darktrooper progress thread be moved into here?

    Yes, this would be the appropriate forum for it. We will slowly be moving threads out of the Sarlacc Pit here over the next few weeks.

    I love the idea big D. Very cool. As much as I love Boba, and Jango, and Zam, it's refreshing to see some other SW character costumes, especially since this is the only forum I go to these days.

    How about no more characters but the Star Wars bounty hunters? No more Batman, Iron Man, Joker, EU characters, other superheroes or sci-fi characters.

    No?

    OK then, I think your idea of this forum is a good one.

    I'm appalled at the fact this forum has been placed atop of the Jango forum! The costume of Jango should have it's own section!

    I have to agree with MF here. I thought this forum was originally setup for information on our Fett costuming aspirations. Isn't that why people come to see THE DENTED HELMET?? As far as I know, BatMan, the Joker, etc... do NOT have dented helmets. I can see the additions of other SW bounty hunters, and some misc SW charaters of interest that would be helpful, but not the stuff outside the SW realm. I'm not saying they're not cool or interesting, but I'm sure there are BatMan sites that can be posted on right?? This is just an opinion, but i've been finding it almost difficult at times to find BOBA information due to the multitude of Joker/BatMan/IronMan postings that need to weeded through. Why would someone coming to a Boba/Jango Fett site care about the joker??
    If they did, they be looking for a JOKER site right??

    Anyone else agree? Am I out of line here? I'm not trying to offend anyone, just expressing my opinion.

    A forum dedicated to other Star Wars costumes isn't a bad idea. I tend to agree that all of the Batman stuff is getting very tiresome. I wonder if Batman forums get inundated with Fett stuff.

    A separate non SW costumes forum would be cool (way down at the very bottom) for members who'd just like to share what they're up to in other costuming genres with their TDH friends and family.

    "tiresome"?? That is putting it politlely. I couldn't agree more.

    It just seems that if you click NewPosts, there's (5) non-Fett related threads to every (1) Fett thread. Just slightly annonying.

    I'm relieved that i'm not alone in my opinion.

    Re: PLEASE READ!

    I don't mind people showing off pics of their other achievements in the general discussion/sarlacc pit area. I like seeing new and interesting stuff, so long as the board isn't cluttered with discussion of how-to's for non-SW things. So I guess show-off threads in general discussion = good, while lengthy discussion on the inner workings of non sw stuff = bad. Let that stuff stay in PM or on other forums.

    Would it be possible to add some functionality to the NEW POSTS botton?? Maybe a pull-down menu of NewPost Options?? Such as:

    NEW POSTS
    ALL

    Star Wars
    -> Boba Fett
    -> Jango Fett
    -> Other Bounty Hunters
    -> Misc SW Characters

    NON-Star Wars
    ->ALL

    This way I'd be able to browse directly related to the topic of choice without having to swim through the BatMan/Joker threads. Just a thought.....

    I do find it quite odd that we have so many NON SW, not to mention, NON Bounty Hunter
    costume discussion threads now. It looks like we have many new member that are here solely for "other NON SW" costumes. I have other costumes going on in my life, as well as most of all us do, but this is not the place for discussion of these.

    At the very least, I think there should be a section just for NON SW and/or other than BH costumes.

    After all, this is "The DENTED Helmet" Boba and Jango elite costuming forums.

    Re: PLEASE READ!

    Theres 7 Joker/Batman threads in the Sarlacc Pitt's first 2 pages, out of 60 threads. I don't think that overdoing it what-so-ever. There's two threads in the Prop Workshop for Kwally's material, which has been GROUND BREAKING on the costume frontier, and I can't say thats not very cool that it happened somewhere that people respect trying to be as accurate in any costume as possible.

    However, I do agree with the fact this is TDH, not TDK. However the people that are making Joker costumes seriously don't have a better place to be respected, and talk about details of this costume like we can at TDH. You may think this is a slam on TDH, but I can assure you its not. Its not that, we, or them, or whatever don't care to repect the fact that TDH is a Boba (And Jango. ) based site, its the fact that our members here care for detail, and naturaly, sence we're all Fett heads to begin with, care also for Joker costume detail, and it just naturaly carries over into the next feild.

    It would be nice to have a forum here for Non-SW costumes. Because in the end, you can't say we all don't have other NON-SW projects that intrests each other. We all do other things outside of SW, and I'm going to go out on a limb here and say we all enjoy seeing each others work. I don't think there a better place to celebrate this fact than here at TDH, where we all started out.

    Also, as far as I know, almost all the threads non-SW related are in the Sarlacc pit, aren't they? Aside from the ones in Prop-Building? Its not like they're in the Boba forum,etc. Unless they are.

    If anything, I ask our Admin staff to not remove the Joker threads just yet. These are seriously groud breaking discussions for the most part, and many have benifited from them. I can totaly understand the fact that it may come to this, considering its sort of an "invading trend". But I do hope evryone can respect the fact that we all know each other, and can at least show some respect for each other's non-SW projects.

    EDIT - Hey, just a thought, how 'bout a TDH backed Non-SW Site/Forum? That would be AWSOME. It would make evryone happy as well. If that happened I think I'd be extremly happy with it. We could all keep the same TDH tradition of having an inteligent discussion about the details of Non-SW costuming, and keep the main TDH forum clutter free of all Non-SW talk. Like a branch of TDH,etc. That would be cool, I'd back it for sure.

    Re: PLEASE READ!

    No doubt that we have had a massive influx of people due to non-SW talk and that things have seemed to change a bit, but I have to say... it doesn't bother me all that much. I mostly look in the Boba forums and I haven't seen a single Non-SW thread there. Where are the non-SW threads.... in the OFF TOPIC forums... imagine that... people are talking about things NOT related to Boba in Forums that were designed to have NON-BOBA topics.... a revolutionary idea!

    Will TDH every become a Batman board? I doubt it. Will it ever have a more permanent place for non-Star Wars costumes? I dunno, but I doubt that as well. I remember a time when TDH wasn't verfy friendly to custom mandalorians but now they are and aren't many of you happy that they are? I remember some people being angry about it and leaving because TDH had "changed." But TDH has always been a board that has evolved and grown.

    Yeah, there has been a lot of TDK stuff here but it has been in the OT forums and once the "cool" factor has been replaced with another big blockbuster, it will dissipate and be gone just like every other fad. Why so many people are worried about it is beyond me. I haven't seen recognition from the admins. Haven't seen them creating a Joker forum. Just not sure what all the hubbub is about.

    As far as other SW characters and this forum are concerned, seems to me that most members at TDH are into multiple costumes and like to share their other interests so why not have a place for them to share it? Again, seems like a lot of concern over something that has been here for years anyway... Just my thoughts.

    Re: PLEASE READ!

    I really appreciate what Jodo and Art have to say above.

    Personally, I suppose I am looking at it from more as a respect of what TDH stands for. I have not wanted to share any of my other costuming ventures, because this is designed for BH's.

    I can definitely defer to the opinions of Jodo and Art, those who have been here a long time. As I mentioned earlier, it may be good to have a NON SW section. I know I would then feel more open to question and discuss other costumes, knowing that I am not "hijacking" a section, by discussing something unrelated.

    I, in no way want to add dirt to the making of a mountain out of a molehill.

    Cheers
    Debbi

    Re: PLEASE READ!

    I don't really care about TDK being posted on here, but lately it seems like it's just too much. Too many threads on the same topic, then it seems we just give them a section of their own to play in. I remember when that Iron Man costume came out, that was pretty cool, the end results were posted, but he didn't hang around to start a run of armour, to discuss what kind of LED system was used, etc.

    I understand that The Dark Knight is quite popular now, a little too popular if you'd ask me, but keep in mind that there ARE Batman forums where these costumes fit in a little more. I don't think all of the Star Trek costumers would be too trilled if I showed up and started posting about new Power Ranger costumes. They are two completely different universes, and they don't fit in together. Dozens of custom mandos are pointed towards Mando Mercs every day, not saying they aren't welcome here, they definitely are, but that is their home too.

    As it seems there are quite a few active members on these boards who don't really contribute at all to Star Wars, but I guess that's okay, they have fun here. However, until Boba Fett fights the Joker, I don't think they really need to be here. And as we all know, Boba Fett would win.

    I for one like to look at what is new in prop building for my mando projects. This means I look at the top thread. Lately I have had to wade in past the top thread because it is Joker. I am not saying we should make the go away by deleting a thread but I just took 10 minute looking for my tutorial mistake thread because it was moved from the prop building to???
    I dunno helmets ...OK but we really need a just other costume area maybe called the changing room ??? I have no interest in being the joker but the batman definately
    I do not want to drive these peopel away I feel the might have something important to offerus some time.

    Re: PLEASE READ!

    Sgt. Skirata, why didn't you use the search function to find your thread? Or better yet, go to your profile and check the threads you've made? That would of be ALOT quicker, and also have instant results.

    One point, mainly about the Joker threads, if we could merge all of them to the two threads, Make Up discussion, and Joker costume discussion, it would make the forum ALOT better for you guys worried about "wading through them". I don't think theres that many that it should bother anyone, but it looks like it does, so this would be an easy thing to do.

    Perhaps, although I'd prefer not to clutter the two existing Joker threads with it, we could rename the Joker costume thread, the TDK Costume Thread, and also merge the "Harvey Dent/Two Face" and Batman discussions to that thread as well. This would make the 12 or so threads condensed to 4 threads. The Joker Discussion (TDK Costume Discussion), the Joker Make-up thread, then Kwally's material thread, and Kwally's ordering thread.

    I can see where the fact that the material run would make a couple people mad, this isn't realy the place for a non-SW run of anything, but in truth, TDH brought these resources together, the members who backed this run of fabric, and evrything. So instead of saying that its bothersome, perhaps you should be proud to know that theres members here, of high enough quality to be able to do such ground breaking work. If it be SW, or not.

    One thing that does get me, is the people who have joined just recently, and are here for non-SW discussion, and I understand this to its full extent. And I actualy would back a warning system for these members or the like. Like I said previously, its not like the older members here, myself included who are partaking in the OT discussions came here to talk about the Joker. We're here to talk about our Fetts, or our Mando's, or our Zam's (Although I can't see myself in a Zam costume anytime soon....). It just so happens that the members here pulled together enough to make things happen, where they couldn't have otherwise outside of this forum.

    So yes, this also makes me angry, like mentioned, I wouldn't go to a Trekkie forum (Well, either way I wouldn't.) to discuss a Power Ranger costume. But if I was already on the forum, for 4 years, and found out that a dozen other members where planning, or already had a Power Ranger, I think it could warrant a thread or two there. But you are right, I think people are going WAY to far when they join just for the OT discussion. If your there already, and have been, well, I think its better. Mabey not ok, but its deffintly not what people are making it out to be. So ya, now that we discuss it, and I've got a clear idea on it, I'm gonna say I'd back the merging of the Non-SW threads.

    However I do hafe to make the argument that TDH did make a "NON-SW" tag for threads. And also, I know that I, myself don't partake in most Fett threads, discussing the details,etc. It'd mainly be because Jodo Kast is just a wee bit diffrent than Fett, and considering there isn't a real suit to study, we don't have many break throughs on it. So ya, if I'm active anywhere, it'd be the custom Mando forum, and The Pit. But now I'll deffintly frequent the SW Character's forum as well.

    EDIT - Also, after Halloween, I don't think you guys will have anything to worry about. All the OT threads will got he way of the Jodo. (Get it, Jodo? Because he died? Mabey not.....Sorta play of words there. Unless he didn't die. He may not of. Well oy, that just ruined that.....How 'bout Dodo then? I bet their jet packs didn't blow up though. A little bit less exciting....)

    Has there ever been an active POLL on this site?? Just curious to its possibility.

    I'd be very interested to know what THE DENT's opinion about this topic is.

    You rang?

    In regard to polls, there have been polls at TDH but on very rare occasion. We aren't very big on polls or voting because it tends to divide and polarize people. You may or may not agree with that viewpoint, but we have done pretty well without them thus far and will most likely keep on without them.

    In regard to our opinion of the concerns that have been raised in this thread, it would seem that there is a great deal of discontent stemming from an issue that has little to do with this forum. We created this forum because there seemed to be a demand for it; not a verbal request but a demand based on the large quantity of Star Wars based costume threads in the Sarlacc Pit. As has been pointed out previously in this thread, we weighed this demand and felt that it wasn't entirely outside the scope of this board to provide an outlet for that demand, much like we did when we created the Custom Mandalorian costuming forum. Is the creation of this forum watering TDH down? We do not feel this to be the case anymore than we feel the creation of the Sarlacc Pit and all the non-Boba Fett content in that forum waters down TDH. This forum is what we consider a community builder. It allows our members to share interests that are similar to our main focus but that do not directly relate to it. We do not anticipate TDH becoming an all-inclusive costuming board like the RPF or a myriad of other boards. However, that doesn't mean we can discuss Boba Fett and only Boba Fett.

    In regard to the non-Star Wars content that has gained a strong foothold here at TDH, we are allowing it but not encouraging it. We have no plans or interest in supporting non-Star Wars costuming outside of content in the Sarlacc Pit where we allow virtually anything. While the current run of Joker fabric may not necessarily been best run here, it is here. We don't support or encourage it as it doesn't fall within our scope of interest, but we have no plans to stop it. Since TDH is not a Batman/Joker based board and we feel that 90% of the influx of batman interest is centered around the fabric run, we feel confident that once the run is complete, this fad will die down on its own.

    We have made TDH very easy to navigate via our different forums. Don't want to read about Jango? Don't go to the Jango forum. Don't like custom mandalorians? Steer clear of the Customs forum. Don't like OT comments? Stay out of the Prop Builders and Sarlacc Pit. Want us to discriminate on what OT is allowed and what is not based on your own interests? Not going to happen.

    Re: PLEASE READ!

    As The Dent knows, I was all for expanding TDH to include other BH characters. I don't particularly care if people want to show off their Teletubbie costumes here, but I would rather the board "stay on target" within the Star Wars universe.

    If I am looking for Joker or Halo costumes I'll go to the RPF - I know that is hard to get on though. I do enjoy when members here show off their other work sometimes.

    Anyway, nice to see it pulled into its own section so it has a home of its own.

    Re: PLEASE READ!

    Dent, thats good to hear you guy have no plans to remove the Joker content, and as I said before, I share your veiws, that after Halloween has passed, most, if not all discussion of TDK will blow over fairly quickly. I deffintly owe all the staff a thanks for allowing it, and I hands down would understand the lack of encouraging any further OT runs.

    I beleive evryone currently in any OT discussion owe a thanks to staff, and a special thanks to our members, a thanks for not posting crude remarks in the OT threads like most other forums would of already took straight to, and for understanding the "cluttering" of the board. This is what I beleive sets TDH apart from nearly evry forum out there. And I'm happy to be a part of it, hands down.

    EDIT - Although I'd also support the merging of the threads, like I've mentioned before to make the upset members happier.

    Re: PLEASE READ!

    I wouldn't want any Joker Content removed, I just don't like seeing that people register here just because of all of the Joker Content. That stuff is left for Batman forums or the RPF.

    Re: PLEASE READ!

    I kinda have to agree that the whole joker topics should be somewhere else. There have been one or two times that I posted something other than SW and I didn't feel right posting it here but due to the buyer had no where else to put it. I'm not saying I don't like seeing someones progress on a Joker costume but I don't think there should be threads for runs or how to make or where to get topics for anything else other than BH's. Just my 99cents.

    Thanks for taking the time out to answer this directly, your opinion(and judgement) is appreciated and respected.

    My apologies if any of the comments sounded slighly elitist or unappreciative, they were not meant to be. I was only concerned with the purity and sanctity of our beloved StarWars realm.

    Thanks again for providing a tremendous forum and resource that we can all enjoy.

    Respectfully,

    Ya, I agree with that. Like I said, its one thing to be here already and talk about it, its another to join here for it.

    P.S. - The RPF still accepts members?

    I am not sure if another mod has already merged the threads, but I have looked and there only appears to be two threads currently running about the findings (one costume, one makeup) and two threads about the selling of the fabric (one interest, one sales). If there are particular threads that you feel, could be merged, PM me with the thread titles and we will get them merged.

    No need for apologies, Scott. You weren't out of line at all. We appreciate that our members are concerned about the wellbeing of their board. It makes our jobs much more easy.
