Phase I + II comparison needed

Hello everybody,

My name is Karin and I am from Vienna, Austria

Some may already know me from other forums.

My Fiance and I want to try to scratch build a Phase I and a Phse II helmt (with the help of sSkip's files)

As I understand, those helmts are very similar, but there ARE differences (despite the faceplate, of course)

To save time an money, the first one would be built and molded, and the modified to Phase II.

Is this even possible?

If someone of you have generously have a pic comparison, that would be of great help.

An overlay from all sides would be heaven!

So please, help a girl out!

The two helmets are very different in their size and geometry. The PI is narrower than the PII, and would not convert very easily.

I don't mean to discourage you from creating your own, just that the 2 helmets are very different.

I was your thread that got me started!

I'd like to build an AOTC anyway, as I might get a PHase II from OSCS soon.

But the idea behind it that one could see the evolution between those the, so I dont want the differences "screaming" at you.

It's not just the faceplate that differs between phases. You've got the cheek tubes that appear on the phase 2 making it wider, the almost Stormtrooper like ears that sit lower on a phase 2 then a phase 1, and the less pronounced fin (doesn't point back like the phase 1) - I think that's all of them.

but how about the dome? same height/width? If it is the same, I could work myself from there.. as a point of reference.

The dome is totally diffrent geometrically between the Phase One and Two. These helmets are not the same when you look at from a technical perspective.

IMO, the brow line seems like a likely place to start. It is an oblong disk like this:




the dimesions for the PI are 8.5X10 (inches)
and PII are 8.75X9.5


From there, you can size the dome and other components
