i will update this thread to bring yall up to date on the build.
here is my rushed 24 hour paintjob on the finished helmet. the viser is not attached yet and the lens is not supported by plexiglass. but this is the finished helmet. the colors still need work. LMK what you think.

Excellent! Sweet paint job. I'm about to do a Hasbro bucket camo mod, myself.
How many colors? Looks like a couple of greens, tan and rust/maroon. Did you do any kind of masking or template or just air/hand brush?

i spraypainted it kaiki then i used 4 different greens and 2 different browns. in some parts i mixed green and brown together. i dabbed on the color then came back with a brush to brighten the colors. i took green akrlic ink and washed it out over the helmet.
then came back and misted the helmet with black,grey and kaiki spraypaint.

progress has slowed a bit because of my small helmet run. got those out of the way. now i have started to build a vacform table to do all the armor except the back plate and tank. that will be made of fiberglass.
the back and chest plates should be finished soon and i can start on the shins.

thanks for the comments. i am still having trouble with the shape of the tank. the right side seems to be correct and i am trying to match the left up.
hey tom wot u need to do is make a 3D model of half the tank, flip it, then get a machine......

it will be both. chest and back will be made of fiberglass and the rest will be abs.

i am in the middle of building and painting one of my helmets up because i did not like certain things on the first paint up and destroyed the helmet trying to get the paint off. i know ....what a *******. so that is slowing me down on the armor build.
but i hope to have the new halmet done soon and get back to the armor full time.
i pulled my first backplate and tank from the mold and it will work nicely. i have to mold up the tank greeb and the chest plate. **** rubber ain't cheap!!!
rubber ain't cheap indeed! i had a helmet mold fail this week... $80 worth of silicone in the trash.
i feel your pain STG. i had one fail about 2 weeks ago. just ordered 300 worth of rubber this morning. mumblemumblemumble..............................
here is the belt,cod and belt buckle make up. i plan to make the belt out of rubber. the cod and buckle will be made of abs.
i left a flap at the top of the belt so you can glue the belt flap to the inside of the cummerbund. i will leave a flap at the top of the cod piece so the belt,cod and cummerbund are all connected so they don't shift around when you wear the costume.
here are the shins cut in half for the vactable. they are almost done just got to do some fine tuning to the centers of the shins and fill some small spots.
here is new helmet i just got done with. thought you guys might like to see it. i finally got the right tint for the lens and man it makes a world of difference!! i took some black paper to see what the vents would look like with the black paper going straight back , i like it. so here it is................... much better tahn my first try at painting this bucket.
no real update, just converting all the armor over for vactable plugs. almost finished with my vactable.
i hope to start producing armor by the end of april!!!!!!!!

my vote is hips , but you will have to lightly sand it before you paint and you get better detail, abs you do not.

i hope to , it is alot of work building this just to keep it to myself.
I say go for HIPS if that gets you better details/sharper pulls! And make it as sturdy as possible without loosing the details

here is where i am now. still working on the transition from armor to armor plugs for vacforming. not to much more to go really. i have to get my vactable finished. then it will all be down hill to getting to the finished costume.

Very nice work man. I've been watching it all along. This is one of my favorite clones! I think I'm probably too big to get a set if you produce them (6'06" 270-ish) unless you did an oversized run! But, I'd certainly be interested in at least a helmet!
Your work is beautiful man. I cant wait to see how it turns out when you finish the vactable. Don't give up.

well here's another update on the build. i am almost done , i hope to pull the prototype in the next couple of weeks.
here is the shoulder, bicep knee pieces.
here is the chest
here is the back plate and tank. the plan is to cut out the tank grove i left in the back plate then take the tank and slide the tank through the plate. then glue and bondo it together and sand. i am also teying to get it where you just set the tank greeb in the pocket i am sculpting into the top of the tank.
here is the belt,cod and forearm piece, the belt is almost ready to mold so hang in there, lonescout! they are coming!
here is the shin and boot armor.
bicep and tank greebs.
and last but not least, the art director and ceo of mrbungle tech.....

hey guys. thanks for the concern rhyme.
everything is good. the armor is finished for the most part. i am finishing the vac table, i hit a couple of snags on that but i am still on target. waiting on parts for the vactable more than anything. i am making the molds for the belt and some of the other straps. i have to redo the bicep strap. the first one was to thin. i hope to have prototype pulls and a prototype costume done by the end of the month and being pretty close to being ready to start making the KS kits.

that prototype stage is pretty interesting... i haven't had a single piece yet that didn't need some tuning before i'd be willing to make parts for other people.i hope to have prototype pulls and a prototype costume done by the end of the month and ready to start making the KS kits.
it will be great seeing this stuff walking around with a person in it!
yeah the protoype stage is going to be fun. making sure all the parts work together and look right together.
the plus side is i did sculpt the armor as wearable armor before i turned the masters into vacform plugs. i triesd on the pieces to make sure they fit. so they should fit together pretty well.
i am very excited to get the prototype together!!!!

here is the test pull for the rubber belts. you wrap the main belt around your waist then use the small piece to fill in the gap.
this should work fine when all trimed up.
Looks pretty good for a first pull man. Great job.
yeah the next one should be cleaner and the rubber is a little old.

here are some more parts.
i designed the tank so the greeb should just fit in the slot made for it.
got the shins looking a little better.
here is the boot armor.
here the back plate that the tank will sit in.
forearm piece.
here are the belt buckles for the boot armor i made. the parts are made from a scrap piece of roof flashing. i made the greebs to be glued on the flashing.
here is the belt i just pulled. much cleaner than the first pull. i am experimenting alittle to try to get grey bars with a black background, that way we don't have to paint the rubber. you can see in the smaller belt where i added more tint to the rubber. the back of the belt is getting darker compared to the bars on the belt. i think it is possible to get the right look on the belts by playing with the tints added to the rubber. fill in the bars with the gray tinted rubber , then come right on top of it with black tinted rubber.
That looks pretty dang sharp man. I like the boot belt thing goin on.

well , the vac table is up and running. FINALLY!!!! after burning up some plastic and tweeking the table i was able to pull the first test pieces.
everything is going pretty smooth now. i just have to do some work on the armor plugs, smooth things out here and there.
but overall the project is coming together. i ma going with .090 becuse the 125 stuff is not giving me the detail i want.
here is the boot armor trimed and taped together to get idea of what they will look like. these will be seamless. slide the shin armor on then pull your boots on, then slide the armor down over the boots.
the toe armor will be tricky. because it will have to move some to walk. i am going to cut off the bottom buckle on the boots.

Looking great! It appears your test pulls are wavy, with regard to the rear half of the calve armor. A little fine tuning and your final pulls are going to be cleaner and tighter.
Ya know, seeing as you've done the leg armor, maybe a future project should be the Galactic Marine?
Did I mention that the leg armor is awesome?!! LOL!
I want to incorporate those into my snow commander rebuild. I am trying to get more Galactic Marine components in play this time.

the boots are gbx's. i am working on the wavyness now. i am making molds of most of my armor to make hydrocal copies to use on the vactable. so that should take care of some of the wavyness.
here is the pic of the first full kit pulled. i have to fine tune the chest and back plate so i get pulls that go all the way to the platen. i am using .125 hips and i am going to use .090 for the final pulls.
It's beautiful.
here is the mock up of the armor on. fits pretty good. putting the tank throught the backplate is the most ricky part of this kit. t6he armor is just taped together. ignore the pistol sticking out of my paints..........S&W 40 cal.

i got to put bondo on all my armor and got the shins, back plate and tank done. still working on my bicep pieces. aliitle more time and they will be ready to paint.

and i had a little time to work on my new helmet.
