My Scratchbuilt Galactic Marine - 99% Completed
Well, here i am, after three years i was starting to believe i would never write a topic like this...
I started this project almost three years ago, i wanted to make a clonetrooper, and i choose the GM because i thought it was a good choice for "larger" guys like me. Since the very beginning i decided that i wanted to make everything from scratch... well i worked insanely hard the last month and yesterday i made my first troop with the 501st Italica Garrison (i've been a recruit for three years now!) and here are a bunch of pictures for you guys!
This week end we had a major convention here in Rome, and i worked hard to build and set up the huge 501st boot we had this year. We had Jeremy Bullock as a special guest and i also had to attend the Spaghetti Prop (the Prop Forum i created last year) boot... Anyway i manage to complete the costume enough to be worn decently: still missing bicep bandolier, chest armor and chest bandolier greeblies, belt greeblies and straps to the kama, and kama grey border. Also the cowl is still to be made properly, the one in the pics was glued in place 5 minutes before i wore the costume.

The blaster is a Hyperfirm my friend Dark-Side gave me for the event, since i still need one.

Re: My Scratchbuilt Galactic Marine - 99% Completed
Wow, you did an excellant job. I have been following you since day 1, and I have enjoyed your scratch building thread. Get those last odds and ends that you mentioned done, and weather up the fabric and you are good to go!
Re: My Scratchbuilt Galactic Marine - 99% Completed
I have to agree with James. You have some really amazing talent. I think the only thing on the suit that isnt up to par would be your belt boxes. Upgrade those to something better and you will have a suit most anyone would envy. :cheers
Re: My Scratchbuilt Galactic Marine - 99% Completed
you're both right, i didn't had the time to weather the fabric and the belt boxes where made yesterday morning in a big hurry... give me a month and i'll make it a 100 per cent! :D
Re: My Scratchbuilt Galactic Marine - 99% Completed
il grande lavoro il papa sarebbe orgoglioso per indossare quel cappello! LOL!
check with steelblitz he's got some GM stuff right now and again looking good and best of luck with the rest.
Re: My Scratchbuilt Galactic Marine - 99% Completed
LOL :) but then it wouldn't be entirely scratchbuilt :D
i'll ask my father what does he think :D
Re: My Scratchbuilt Galactic Marine - 99% Completed
Dark-Side is crying for me to say that he helped me a lot in the making of the armor... my friend, without your help i wouldn't have made it, thank you!
Re: My Scratchbuilt Galactic Marine - 99% Completed
Great job...great pics! I'll definitely be checking out your progress thread.
BTW: Judging by your expression in the 5th pic where you're taking your helmet off, it must be a little warm and difficult to breath inside this lid with the cowl.

Very cool! the ammo sash looks awesome. But don't Galactic Marines usually carry gatling/miniguns?
still, a very impressive build.
Re: My Scratchbuilt Galactic Marine - 99% Completed

Only in the video games. In the movie they had the normal array of weaponry.

He is always crying about something, so don't listen to him. Great job and any progress?

pics are pretty wild too!
Re: My Scratchbuilt Galactic Marine - 99% Completed
thanks! The yellow headscarf kinda kills the awesomeness, but the Aviator Ray-Ban brings it all back! :D
Re: My Scratchbuilt Galactic Marine - 99% Completed
I think you did an incredible job on your GM. :) Big improvement on the belt boxes, which I'm sure were probably quickly put together for trooping as you worked on better ones. I agree with you about the helmet cowl, but I'm sure you'll have that squared away in short order. Terrific work!

That costume looks perfect to me!
Re: My Scratchbuilt Galactic Marine - 99% Completed
thanks you guys! Yes small adjustments to do... and that picture is a favourite of mine as well! (the gun is actually a WWI Vickers Machine Gun replica i made some time ago, remodelled to look futristic :D)
