    My Ep2 Clone Pilot

Ok, well I guess if we're going to start a new forum for other SW costumes, I'll help get things started as well. Here are a few pics of my Ep2 clone pilot. I don't have many due to me only trooping in it twice, with only one being in it's completed state. So, here are a few shots I like. The first pic is at the Clone Wars premier (my sister, littlebekahc , calls it "marshmallow clone"). The second is with some friends from my local FanForce group while at LegoLand Star Wars Days 2008, this past weekend.

I did incorporate a hidden hinge and pin closure on my forearm armor, and snaps on my shins...hmm, wonder where I got those ideas from?

    Enjoy,

That's a gorgeous costume my friend, top notch job as always.
I'd like to make a clone pilot some time down the road, so don't be surprised when I start PM'ing you for details.

Seriously! That kinds of brings doubt that it's Cruzer in the photo. There's no way he's as tall or taller than those people.

    J/K looking good man.

Lewis, you could still be a Jawa dude.

Actually, it was an orthodontic convention! I got some business cards if you ever need a good dentist. I'm just kidding. What would SW characters be doing at a dental convention, silly me? It was really the Star Wars days at LegoLand this past weekend. Weren't you there on Sunday?

Don't tell anybody, but I'm actually wearing lifts! So fortunately it puts me at about 5'10" suited up.8) I'm a short clone, but a clone none-the-less.

    Thanks guys for the compliments.

Seeker, the weathering is actually based on the ref. pic in the Chronicles Prequels book, which I believe is from the digital files.

Does your Orthodontist also dabble in Hair Replacement, or do you have a seperate guy for that?

Actually, I think I haven't had an orthodontist since I had my braces back in jr high and high school. I believe that's when a lot of people have them, but then there are some people like my wife who have braces later on as adults. She's doing that invisaline thing, and she really recommends them. As for hair replacement, why would I have a guy for that?

So did I miss you on Sunday at LegoLand? I was only able to attend on Saturday, but I heard Sunday was fun as well. If I lived closer, I would have surely attended that day as well. It was neat to hear some of the kids know exactly who my character was. I even had some kids ask me if I flew particular ships, I would just say yes to all the ones they'd mention. I guess I now need to brush up on my ship classes!

Well, I kinda liked "Cruzer", but I'll consider it....ok, that didn't take long...I think I'll stick with "Cruzer"!

Benkenove, here's a link to more pics of the chestbox for you . I think I estimated about 45-50 hours invested alone in the chestbox build because it's all scratch built from styrene sheet, sprinkler parts, and all working electronics. The bottom dowl is removable. The chestbox itself, contains two alternate blinking LEDs, a steady red LED, and a faux screen that's backlit by a high intensity blue LED, and the speaker for my Hasbro voice changer. The power supply for the LEDs is located in the chestbox, with the LEDs being controlled by the two rocker switches on the chestbox.

The wiring for the speaker runs through one of the hoses and into my helmet where the Hasbro speaker system's circuit board and power supply is housed. Then, the prerecord voice commands and voice amplifier are controlled by tact switches located in the finger tips of my left glove.

I'm 5'9" out of costume, I don't do any lifts or anything, but I think I come out to a modest height for Boba.

Lorenzo don’t let anyone give you any gripe about you’re height, you’re not short dude, just funsize ENnnnn!!!

Kidding aside you’re clone is looking great; the addition of weathering really sells the definition and depth of all the curved proportions on the armor, really liked the direction you took with it. As for the chestbox I don’t even know where to begin about the ingenuity you put into that, all I know is you’re spending waay too much time in the garage these days sir and its paying out in spades.

wow... i missed that at first!

i've got my hasbro board set aside for... something...

i've been thinking about putting mine in my comm pad, after seeing a thread on clone-empire about something similar.

but that method would let me use the mic too.

now, if i can get the sound output to my normal voice amp.

It was very difficult mounting the tact switches in the glove tips. It's awesome when its all said and done: Being able to press my fingertips against my blaster to talk or play some of the prerecorded messages is very convenient, but I probably wouldn't do this type of installation again. Getting the wires soldiered to the very very small leads on the tact switches are enough to drive most people mad!

Sorry about that. I forgot that I had moved things around. I corrected the mistake with a link to my photobucket album...or here it is below. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

I've gotten a handful of requests for copies of my chestbox since first debuting the suit, so I hope to begin the mold this month.

    Cruzer,

Your pilot is indeed one of the best I have seen, and I think the fact that you aren't all that tall says even more about it, because you look proportionately very good, where a lot of shorter people tend to look just that... short! Way to pull off the look very effectively! We need to talk to you about that because Mirax needs some SERIOUS help!

    Re: My Ep2 Clone Pilot

Thanks guys for the compliments on the armor.

Art, I'd recommend the tallest shoe lifts you can find & possibly high heels!

Jedi_Outcast, from what I was told it's used in the "medical" industry and has an inner diameter of .5" and an outer diameter at it's highest points at .75".

DW,fortunately I've been deemed in need of an upgrade by my seargent, so this suit has gone to a local fellow trooper while I await a new suit of the Sci-Fire persuasion. I hope to replicate the armor exactly as before. I actually started making the mold box today for the chest box, so hopefully very soon.

    Thanks again guys

Cruzer, that is good news. That is the nicest clone pilot's chest box that I have ever seen. It will be nice to see this molded; I offer any assistance you might need. I do a little molding, myself. ...And I know a little something about cloning.

    Will you be at Wondercon?
Thanks man for the offer, as I know you know more than just a "little something"! I started breaking down my chestbox last night so I could consider if it should be molded as one piece or as multiple pieces. Any suggestions you have would be appreciated. Thanks

Sounds good. My wife works at a hospital so maybe I'll start visiting her at work more often .

Man did I start hanging around here again at just the right time. I'll be keeping that in mind.

Glad you understood me...I meant to say "medical" industry.

Very cool about you being interested in EP2 clone pilots!

I didn't even notice the missing 'c' until you mentioned it .

    Re: My Ep2 Clone Pilot

After a closer look at my box and ref. pics, I've realized it's not really constructed for molding and there are some inaccuracies I'd like to fix before producing these for other people. So with the help of Sci-Fire, I'm going to begin building a new box that'll be molded for Hyperfirm production. Here's a preliminary 3D model that postmortem created. His 3D modeling skills are amazing, as they should be because he does this kind of stuff everyday...lucky guy!

I was surprised at just how small this box really is. After scaling it in Autocad, it really is small. It will be cool to see this thing lit up and worn. God I love Star Wars and how many silly objects there are to make.
