    My Captain Rex

Here's my Captain Rex, both in Phase 1 AND Phase 2 versions.

    Phase 1:

    and Phase 2:

I also troop a range of optional extras - Jetpack, Deece long Deece short, helmet lamps (great for night time troops!) and helmet macrobinoculars on the Phase 2 helmet.

Excellent work! I hadn't seen the phase 2 version before- Would you have any pics of the helmet lamp & macrobinoculars? I love the variable equipment one can add to Captain Rex!

    Re: My Captain Rex

The phase II helmet (and chest pouch) is from Season 4 - images culled from the latest trailer to create it.

The macros are awating arraval of rare-earth magnets so that they can be attached and removed from the phase 2 helmet.

As for the helmet lamps. I couldn't find any images of me actually trooping them - I usually remove them if I have chance before a photo, so that the light doesn't interfere and spoil the image. However this is them attached:

They really work well, look almost exactly like the ones seen in the show AND more importantly allow me to see in the dark with my helmet on!

EDIT: There you go, found an older one (with an old pauldron on):

And with my jetpack attached (it simply hooks in to two slots in the back that are covered by the pauldron when the jetpack is not worn):

Outstanding! Thanks for the additional pics! The jetpack looks great! So, it hooks to two slots in your backplate-Sounds like a fairly simple arrangement- but if the slots are hidden by the pauldron when not using the JP, do you have a different pauldron to use when you have the JP?

Nope. The slots are covered by the pauldron (made by General Fidelis) when no jetpack is worn. When the jetpack is worn most of the hooks are covered (if you could see it directly from above you'd see a bit of the hooks emerging from the pauldron). I'll see if I get chance to take some photos showing details at this weekends troop.

Pretty cool. Yours is the first phase 2 Rex I have seen kitted up. I know some others are working on it right now, but you appear to be the first.

One question though............why is that kid putting his gun in his mouth, I mean it couldn't have been that bad.

    LMAO!

Yeah he was licking a sucker on the end of it and trying to shoot the troopers before they shot him. He was a little intimidated and didn't try to shoot me... I beleive I am the first to troop a Phase 2 Rex, was a little concerned it wouldn't get the recognition when out on a troop that my Phase 1 does - people not being that familiar with Phase 2 Rex yet - but aside from being called a Cyberman (robot from Dr Who!!) by one family, everyone knew I was Captain Rex (although a handful of kids called me Commander Rex - don't you just love instant promotions! lol)

A couple of pics from yesterdays troop:

I wasn't able to take a photo of the jetpack attachment in place - I came down with a major (massive) migraine whilst in costume and couldn't remain in costume to take the photo.

What made my day was the number of kids coming up to me saying "Woooooh! Captain Rex in season 4 armour!"

Bummer about the migraine! That SUCKS!! No worries on not getting pics of the JP attachment system- another time! I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions!
I've got the Sideshow Captain Rex, which is what I was basing my armor on, save that it has a grey ammo belt...is this the only version with a grey one?

    Re: My Captain Rex

I have the sideshow Rex too and the belt on mine is also grey however - I altered mine a little to be as close I could to it. If you look at the promo images of Sideshow's Rex on their site you'll see it has a white belt with heavy weathering - which goes over the ab plate too. This is what I based mine on rather then the mass produced - cheating - start off grey belt the figures come with - Lucas film would've signed off on the one on the website imho.

Here's some images taken at a recent photoshoot we did. In addition to my Phase 2 Rex costume they include a phase 2 Wolfpack Trooper and the worlds first Phase 2 Commander Wolffe, ALL from the upcoming Season 4 of The Clone Wars:

Those are some fantastic kits. I do love that Rex. The details look great.

Wolffe looks ready to get a little country on some droids with that pitchfork. He's even throwing down a Jango pose with the tanks haha.

    Re: My Captain Rex

My armour is a kit - actually several, it's vac-formed HIPs. The helmets are fibreglass. The blaster pistols I made, they are resin. The belt and pouches are a rubber kit and the jetpack is resin and fibreglass, modded by myself from a BFUK pack.

Your Phase II Rex helmet looks great!
Thanks, your helmet on CT.Net showed me it could be done on a realistic phase II lid.

Awesome! I saw that pic the other day and saw the Neyo aerators too. I am wondering if his face-plate is like Neyo's too. The frown on this new Rex helmet is much more angular when compared to the new Phase-II grunts in the forthcoming Season Four. Looking awesome Orthar

    Thanks.
I'm not convinced on a Neyo faceplate. I have one of SGB's outstanding Neyo lids and the frown is considerably different to that on Rex. Even if you take into account the animated styling then compairing animated phase 2 Rex helmet with animated phase 2 Wolffe helmet - which is a confirmed Neyo style - they still look very different. Chances are the difference in the frown comes from the animators trying to fit a phase 1 T-visor into a phase 2 helmet. It's easy enough for us in reality (can speak from experiance there) but computers have an annoying habit of moving one area when you alter another connected point.

Got to count the tallys on the left arm and finish the light blue stripe on the sides of the chest plate

Dave Filoni has said that Rex's helmet is custom. Rex cuts up his old and new helmets and combines them, making his 1 of a kind.

I'm working on a rex also (animated film version with jetpack). I was wondering if you get a chance could you post some pix of the mounting system you're using for your jetpack. I know you said the mounts are concealed by the pauldron when not wearing the pack but what do you do about the pauldron while wearing the pack?

I'm using OSCS Phase I armor/bucket, GF pauldron, and a BFUK jango arena jetpack.

    Thanks :-)

    Re: My Captain Rex

I'm trooping this Saturday to support the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal. I wasn't planning on taking the jetpack but I will and will get some photos taken of how the jetpack sits with the pauldron - which is also a GF pauldron.

Here's an image of the hook attachment:

As you can see, the paint cracked but as it only occured on the inside, which is never seen; I didn't worry about it.

As you can see the pack is a BFUK - the mods I did for the pack (it was originally a Boba pack) prompted Rob (BFUK) to make his arena packs. As my pauldron is an Ep3 pauldron it's not as long in the rear as the animated version, so there is likely to be some differences.

Thanks, nice of you to say.

Most of the armour is bozotheclone movie clone armour. Most people use animated but I wanted my Rex to look real. To that I added Steelblitz parts - belt and straps and holsters. The pauldron was from General Fidelis from Ct.net and is easily the nicest pauldron I've yet seen, comes pre painted and he really went to town on it. Added to that is a real MP40 leather pouch - my rom/fx voice amp sits in that with the speaker behind my chestplate and the sound effects buttons run down my sleeves to my fingers. The kama I made from black pleather with some iron on blue hemming material to edge it correctly. The pistols I made myself, along with the rifles.
The helmet is from Skip here in the UK, and I modded the visor using P38 - bondo for my American readers. The range-finder array is one of bobamakers - it fits to where I flattened the ear cap, with a couple of small tabs to stop it from moving too far to the front or back. The helmet has the seam line where Rex added his phase 1 visor to it, cut in using a dremel - slightly nerve wrecking!
The jetpack is a Fett jetpack from BFUK that I modded extensively, when Rob saw what I had done to it, he set about making his own version to sell.
The whole thing is finished off with a internal back plate mounted speaker, transmitter and mp3 player that not only allows me to play the 2hr long clone trooper radio chatter I created, on a loop, but also to transmit it to any nearby clone trooper with a radio inside their armour!
