My Cade Skywalker "Mandalorian" chestplate
With a recent issue of LEGACY showcasing what the Mandalorians of the era look like, it's
pretty obvious that Cade Skywalker wears an altered Mando chestplate and belt so here is
his armor I decided to make. What do you all think?

I don't actually plan to finish a costume or anything, it was just a project I figured I could do
pretty quickly and have an interesting prop to put on the wall. I might at least attach
the straps that are on the chestplate, though.

that's very nice. i don't know what techniques you used to make it, but it looks like there were a lot of hours spent by a skilled craftsman to build this piece. the only "short-cut" i can see from the pictures is the hammered finished bronze paint, and that's not really a short-cut, because i don't think it's actually possible to make plastic armor look like hammered metal.
Re: My Cade Skywalker "Mandalorian" chestplate
Thanks for the comments about my being so "skilled a craftsman".
It's all sintra that has been shaped and layered. Start to finish I'd say theres about two days work involved with cutting, shaping, refinements, sanding and paintwork.

Insane.... Great work. :)
Re: My Cade Skywalker "Mandalorian" chestplate
very cool! i was a big fan of cade's "mando-esque" armor. with the release of issue 41 last month we see all the legacy era mando's wearing very similar design.
i actually borrowed cade's design for my chest and backplates. i didn't copy them exact but used the style. my bro used the ab plates for his custom mando.
great work, it looks awesome!is it one piece or scaled pieces? as i look at the pix, i see it both ways.

A'den:
I didn't even think to take a shot from the back when I had my friends camera!
The center black part is actually the same peice as the first, largest ab plate and the pec and center diamond are attached to it. It's layered construction from the pec plates down.
I sprayed the thick, hammered paint after it was assembled so that's probably why it looks all one peice.
OK, I whipped this up really quick to give you an idea:

Wow. That's awesome. Absolutely fantastic work. Looks great
Re: My Cade Skywalker "Mandalorian" chestplate
That looks awesome. I really like that armor too after seeing it in the Legacy comics. Might as well make the whole costume. Keep up the good work.
Re: My Cade Skywalker "Mandalorian" chestplate
That really looks great, very impressive. I know of a guy in the UKG doing this cossy, i wonder if he is doing this as well.
Re: My Cade Skywalker "Mandalorian" chestplate
Excellent looking build! If ever you were to get tired of it hanging on the wall I'd take it off your hands.
Re: My Cade Skywalker "Mandalorian" chestplate
that looks awesome, I'd love to see a finished costume. It'd be great if you could post a few pics when your done
