    Jawa costume

Ok, I'll admit this may seem ramdom but with this new area for this I figured you can't hurt to ask.
I have been asked to make a Jawa costume, I know the soft parts will not be an issue for me.
But how do the eyes get done, or should I say how should I do the eyes?
I know they seem really low as opposed to where I think eyes would set normally.
Any ideas or has anyone tackled this before?
Thanks for any help or ideas.

Hey, This is what I came up with last year. It maybe a little over engineered, but it worked. You can find these at Lowe's, The frames come with the battery powered LED attached to the sides. I just remounted the the lights and added the lenses.

Here is a diagram I found and used for mine. As usual, I don't remember where but I still have it. If the person who made it reads this, Thanks. For the mask portion though, I sewed one up out of some black cloth material with a velcro closure in the back. I've been meaning to redo the lenses but haven't had time to.

You can see the actual eye holes above the lighted eyes.

That diagram is one of Chris Bartlett's designs. I did a variation on that using small orange reflectors and the LEDs drilled through them for my daughter's Jawa costume.

Ahh yes I remember now. Thanks, Chris for the design, and you webchief for reminding me who did it. BTW... What material did you use for the robe? Is it one of those blankets?

    Re: Jawa costume

So where is the info for the Jawa that Chris did? I must not be seeing it?
Thanks for the pics and the diagram guys that gives me a bit more insight to this one.
I thought the robe was made from Monks cloth?

    Re: Jawa costume

It may be monks cloth but I thought I read somewhere that it was some kind of blanket. Then again, I've read so many things during research that it sometimes blurs together.

His Jawa info is actually in the sandtrooper section for the time being.

Oh...No wonder, i saw nothing. Thanks still doing research myself. I went with the Monks cloth myself to simplify things right now, I have a very heavy costume load at the moment for Halloween.
    I'll check Chris's sight again.

I am still working on this one. Trying to locate the wood gun for this at the moment, found a leather bandolier X4 as I am now making 2 of these now... LOL.
The robes are sewn and need to be dyed.
Going to radio shack today to get the goods for the face mask.
And I am running our of time

    Re: Jawa costume

I have a bit of a situation with the guns here. Anyone know where to find these. All the ebay sellers are out of their mind if they think I am willing to pay $88 to express ship these guns of the few I have been able to find on ebay with BIN.
I went to walmart as per a suggestion to no avail, So I am really stuck here.
Again looking for a bit of help... sorry and thanks,
    Christi

    Re: Jawa costume

Sorry, I don't check the non-Boba threads often here on TDH.

The robes we used for my daughter's Jawa were made from an Egyptian Cotton Herringbone weave blanket. I bought a white one and dyed it to get it the right color by mixing orange and brown RIT dye.

Chris' Jawa plans are on his sandtrooper page on his website tk409.com.

Those look great! Your blasters turned out really well. Did you use monks cloth for the robes? What pattern did you use?

Thanks, I was pretty happy with the blasters all in all. I was short on time to weather them and the robes. So I was doing that on the morning of Halloween.

Yes I used the monks cloth and dyed it brown. Lots and lots of dye to get a deep warm brown. The pattern is of my own design with a bit of wire around the hood edge.

    Re: Jawa costume

Use monk's cloth. You can get it at JoAnn Fabric for $9.99 per yard. Then get Dark Brown RIT Fabric Dye (also at JoAnn). Definately check out these two sites: The first one for the AMAZING mask tutorial:

    http://www.td8733.com/Tutorial.html

And this one for the accessories:

    http://www.tk1336.com/jawa.html

For the boots, I got a pair of rubber rain boots from Wal Mart. I wrapped them in duck tape, making sure to wrinkle the tape as I put it on. Then I painted with 3 different shades of brown spray paint, then LIGHTLY went over the boots with black spraypaint. They look awesome! You can also get everything you need for the mask from RadioShack, JoAnn Fabric, and the LEDs for the lights, look on eBay first. If they dont have the Panther Vision ones suggested in the tutorial, check at Lowes. In all, my son's costume is coming out to around $350. Im going to put up a website soon with step by step instructions for everything. I'll post a link on here when its done.
