right - heres my 1st WIP on these forums
posting here cos reception of the Hasbro Phase I lid has .... mixed (?) response on 'official' clone sites; and people here seem a little more receptive.

Although for the moment - the aim isnt 501 acceptance; if the lid is eventually deemed worthy; all the better.

I used a clone6 lid to try and aim for; not an exact replica of
I wanted to cut down the flair of the ear posts, and change 1 or 2 things. So out came the dremel

out came the bondo and milliput

the aim was to try and get the angles to meet to form a triangle here:

still needs some work -

obviously needs soem more work building up the rim still

so far GBP30 on the lid; GBP6 for the bondo and GBP4 for the milliput (which I have from other projects anyways).
cutting and bondoing so far has been abt 4 hrs work.
I do work slow though - 3 kids and busy job makes for little time for hobbies - so bear with me :D

Thanks for watching!

I think you're off to a great start!! I have one of these just waiting for me to start work on it. I'll be watching this rebuild too!

Well done! ;)

thanks for replies guys
really itching to get on - but busy till the weekend after next :(
real life really gets in the way of the good things - rofl

I am really new to all this too.... hoping it turns out ok. off to buy a mouse sander me thinks, my fingers really hurt!

wow really? thx BF UK. Lids being sold at Boots - that is so weird!
too bad my cash is all tied up in Iceland atm *mutter mutter mutter*

btw for you UK guys - I said bondo on my 1st post; its basically isopon38 from Halfords. Its gret for the big filling jobs, but milliput really required for the details/tight corner etc.

Does any other UK based guys use diff stuff?

Hey Skup - thx for other options.
just went to U-POL site - they are the guys who manufacture Isopon as well!

2L for 15 squid sounds a lot cheaper though. Do u use the generic body filler or the Easylite/Easy sand versions?

Nate

No worries ner vod. ;)

I always use easy sand. Makes life easier. I knew it was the same manufacturer, the hardeners are the same too. U-POL is just cheaper and in my opinion is easier to work with too. The frustrating thing is, the colour doesn't change when you mix filler and hardener, so getting the right ratio can be tricky. ;)

All the best!
