My buddy mentioned to me that he was thinking of getting a stormy suit. He was looking on eBay and I told him to wait until I got some input from TDH. He doesn't want to spend a lot of money, so I was thinking the Rubies suit but I haven't seen it other than seller pics so I don't know how bad it is. He said that if he has the suit and if my boba is done by next year we will hit the Philly comic con next year with them.

There is also the ATA (affordable trooper armor), the guy is pretty good and so is the armor. there is a waiting list though.
contact Terrell.
ataworks@yahoo.com

Just email him and ask, he usually gets back within a week or so.

Oh and tell your friend to stay away from rubies! not accurate at all Needs heavy modification for 501st approval ( that should indicate how bad it is )!

I don't think he is looking to join the 501st, I think he just wants a stormy suit. That's why I was thinking a rubies suit would work, but if there is a reasonably priced set from somebody else, then that's where I'll tell him to look.

You can most DEFINATELY pick up a more accurate TK for about 1/2 of the Rubies at the whitearmor website. I purchased and built a suit (no helmet) from Armor Master for less than $500. Good luck!!

That's about the cost of the ATA,. Its great that that there are cheap suits out there, The rubies is licensed, so that makes it cost more, paying for that license...:wacko

Does that $500 include the bodysuit? Who makes a good budget helm?

my gwl just posted this on my garrison boards for tk armor.

The FISD (the stormtrooper detachment) has had this "buyers guide" up for a while, thought it was worth linking to. Basically, if you're looking at buying armor from a maker who isn't on this list, buyer beware. What you're buying may be recast, and quality may not be up to par. DO NOT BUY ARMOR ON EBAY!

I have writen over 10 times ataworks@yahoo.com and all I get is go to this site or the detachment one or white armor site BUT never to the ****@#$% place to acquire a **** storm trooper armor it is to dificult to any one to just say , here you have prices directions, phone numbers ect,ect ANYONE THERE TO HELP ME IN THIS MATTER

The makers of the armors are not really licensed to do so... so you need to understand why they cannot just put their name out there. Digging for the information is part of the fun of the hobby... and really something one just has to do. And when you find the info you need... you have to wait for your parts to be made. There is no such thing as "Buy it Now" in this hobby. If you can't accept that, then this hobby is not for you.

If you think that you are going to get a neat shopping list and a step by step guide, you are mistaken. People spend weeks, if not months, researching before they even buy. Prop makers are not Walmart!

This guy on eBay has cheap vac-formed armor and helmets. makerofthings | eBay

He sells one, then puts a new one up in a couple of days, so if it says the seller has nothing just check back. It looks decent, although I'd probably replace the helmet quickly.

makerofthings is one of the recasters we warn people over at FISD to stay away from due to lack of quality.

yep...locitus is correct. quality is very low end, and he's a recaster..i would suggest avoiding. head over to the FISD (whitearmor.net) and you will find all you need :)

Agreed,...I bought one of his kits quite a while back and it was just really, really bad....Plastic is way too thin and brittle, lines are mushy, details soft,....just bad stuff. Still figuring out what to do with it. If I can find the box, I'll take some pics so you can see just how bad it is.
