First 'Serious' Build - Skupilkinson's Pepakura Ep.2 Clone Helmet

Hi everyone,

Apologies for the multiple posts in row (and before there are accusations of necro posting... I am the OP of this thread).

This project has been ticking over for a while and I've built numerous Ep2 helmets but I've had nothing to report since none of them fit! I'm not kidding at least 8 cut out and three built beyond 80% completions and 5 built to the "dome" stage before it was clear there was a problem...

It starts with the fact that the original Pep I got was in "Letter" format and it has gone on from there - i'm not blaming Skip by the way - this is entirely MY learning curve.

When pepakura says stuff like "the orignal paper and the paper in the printer are different would you like to adjust the scale to suit?" whether you answer "yes" or "no" you get a different result to what you would have gotten if you were printing Letter to letter or A4 to A4... exporting to a PDF and then printing gives you a different result again. If the issue was simply scaling it would be manageable, eventually, but the issue affects the proportions since pepakura and acrobat both seem to scale in proportion to the edges of the paper and so the "x" scale change is often different to the "y" so I have had both tall narrow helmets and short fatties...

I now have Pep designer and have a lot of control over the scale but I just want to get a helmet that doesn't look like I'm wearing bucket on my head.

Even with PepDesigner my last effort was scaled at 340mm height on A4 and once built came out at 320mm AND WAS STILL TOO BIG! I could see out the eyes this time at least The one before that was scaled to 330mm height and came out way too small... (i'm not talking about the neck ring here I'm meaning the helmet proper) volumetric scaling you've gotta love it. The helmet looks great but the proportions must be off by just a bit so I need some help please.

I would apreciated it if someone who has a GOOD (i.e 501st quality) replica Ep2 helmet, that they can wear would post some dimensions? I need height, width and depth so that I can get the proprtions as well as the scale.

Pep and my now well developed modelling skills will do the rest and I'll soon be back to profiling my exploits and building rather than repeatedly cutting out the same 98 pieces over and over!
