Gino, there are no words, you and Phil have nailed it, nice work
Only three words, Oh my God!!!!!!!!, CONGRATULATIONS friend
Me again, this is a seriously impressive display, it doesn't even seem right calling it a 'replica' as its dead on!! I had the pleasure of meeting Phil the sculptor of the head a while back, he is a highly talented and extremely modest guy and the combination of his skill plus Gino's eye for detail and dedication to accuracy are simply mind blowing, again very well done
off the hook Gino, blown away
I honestly thought I was looking at production stills of Ray Park.....amazing work.
What more can be said?
Wow, that is a think of beauty!!!
I want one *drool*
Thanks for the kind words everyone.
I'll be taking a ton of new pics and adding them to SWP once the new eyes are finished.
PS, Julie, I need as set of your awesome ESB fett braids!!
Absolutely spot on Gino!!! Spot on.
Any advice on where you got the costume? Make up techniques???
I have seen some amazing things in my life.
This particular display just knocked a lot of them down the list....it's uncanny. It's eerie. Heck, it's downright scary. Amazing detail. Utterly amazing.
I'll be taking some more pics this next week with the new eyes as long as you guys don't get bored of seeing them.
Holy cow, that's awesome work! I thought it was Ray Park at first. Amazing...
Here's another one.

That really looks great!
O_O Nothing to say.......
Did you kidnap Ray, I dont think you could get any more closer Great job, Fantastic work!
this is amazing!!! you really nailed it!!!
great make-up job!!
First of all, am I reading this correctly? Is the head a sculpture? Because it looks completely real!!!! This is outstanding, just unbelievable work!!!
Yeah, me too. I thought the head was a real person until I bothered to read the post. Amazing. Your work is the gold standard, Gino. We need to see if we can get you working with LFL. I think you know their archive better than they do.
Those are very kind words.
I'd LOVE to do some official work for LFL or an official LFL licensee.
I've recently approached Windlass with an offer to help them with their upcoming costuming line. I was thanked for the interest and assured that they "have it under control".
Their response was "Currently our design team (with constant and direct help of the Lucas Archives and research staff) has been able to handle the tasks nicely."
Why is it that I'm not convinced?
How will that make them look when the stuff they put out does not compare to the pieces I've made? I think they either simply just don't know what they don't know, or just don't care.
I think that costumes at the price point they are shooting for, people will have higher expectations than what I believe they will ultimately end up delivering.
Ok! Call George Lucas! Let's remake Episode 1! This is... I have no words to describe this... We'll have to stick with awesome...
that is the sickest maul ever!! nicely done.
and they turn you down for a job?????
i really think they do not care because somebody will buy their inferior product.
Your Darth Maul looks awesome, what a fabulous display piece. :thumbup
Wow, you've done an amazing job. It's so good it's almost creepy!
*gasps and can't find jaw to pick up off the floor* ***... you reaaallly don't want me to post this at the dmeb2!! This...is a million times better than any Sideshow doll!!! wow...
Can I post your figure's photos at the Darth Maul Estrogene Brigade 2??
PS, just wanted to make sure you realized that it is a life size display (since you mentioned the sideshow doll).
For more info on the costume and display itself, just click my banner, go to proparchive and select Darth Maul.

Yep, I completely understood it was a lifesize figure How could I not with the amount of detail put into it 8)
I have to add...he's beautiful... If I ever win the lottery, you'll be hearing from me
i honestly thought it was real.
that head is perfect in every way
Wow...does Ray Park know about this? If he did, maybe you could get a photo opp with him beside it! That would be unreal....
totally unreal. awesome work Gino.
Hey Gino, do you have the big cloak that goes over that as well? This is so awesome!
Looking awesome, I like his stair
This is not a statue is it?
Unfortunately no. The original costume we used to reverse engineer the one I have was complete as the 'battle costume' but not the huge outer cloak.
Thought about trying to have one made, but there are two things hindering me.
1. This costume is based directly off a real suit so it's patterns are correct in every way, including it's construction flaws. If we tried to make the outer cloak, it would be our best guess based on reference and although it could be close, it would never be as perfect as the rest of the costume.
2. Finding a professional seamstress/costume designer with THE necessary skill/knowledge/patience/desire to work on a beast like the outer cloak is very difficult. I've still not crossed paths with one yet.
Amazing!!! i cant believe its not a real person!!!
Man, I can't stop drooling over this. haha. I love Maul, if my fave looked more like him, I would most certainly do a Darth Maul costume. I've been workin on my Dual Saber skills hahaha. Any tips on this costume Gino?
I had the camera out today while I was taking pics of the Emperor and thought I'd snap a new one of maul.
***! That is just beautiful! You never cease to amaze me!
MAN!, that looks SO realistic!!!! Amazing, just amazing!!
Thats so good and to think I was only going to make a Clone trooper outfit pee
wow, just wow, i don't even know what else to say!
dude...you have the BEST Lifesize displays I have ever seen!!!
you need a FETT!!
I'm actually slowly working on a Fett. Key word, slowly.
Absolutely fab work, hats off!
That is without a doubt the absolute coolest thing I've seen in a long, long time. Don't leave your doors unlocked cause I will ninja it out from under you
Seriously though, It would be awesome if you guys could make more of those outfits...
I think what really makes that look alive is the slight smudging under the eyes. It would be easy and obvious to make the display idealized... but to incorporate that little detail is, to me, what make it look like Ray Park standing there in costume. If someone told me that was a promo pic from the movie I would never have questioned it.
Wow, awesome... but does Maul wear a piercing on his left ear too?
Thanks. He only wears it on his left ear (right ear as you are looking at him).
Ray Park came into the studio for a make up test already wearing the metal stud. He asked if he could keep it on and they said sure.
So it ended up as part of the character.
As far as his cloak goes, I kinda like it without... shows off a lot more. Great job btw, sometimes it almost seems redundant.. since you dont bother with anything less than perfection. Im really looking forward to seeing your next masterpiece.
That's very kind of you to say BactaWork. Very much appreciated.
