ESB Stormtrooper Helmet - CAP-W

Finally finished this one and am very happy with how it came out! Wanted it to look like a beat up relic as seen on Star Wars Helmets website. Now I am on to my ATA ANH helmet! Let me know what you guys think! The last 2 were taken in the shade with no flash.

Nice! Just a question about the paint chips effect- why do some people think this makes a helmet more authentic? Authentic to what? From what I had read, most of the damage to one of the originals that people copy was done by the guy who took the helmet off set and allowed his children to play with it, hence the chips. So authentic doesn't make sense to me. Not that it takes away from your obvious talent, but I always had to wonder about this.

Because that IS the effect I was going for. I wanted them to look like relic type helmets. Like ones that were found years after filming. And your statement isn't totally true, there is at least one helmet in ESB that was identified years later by the chips that it had on film. They were present on screen and that is how the helmet was matched up years later for auction. You have to remember, these things were made on the fly and the white paint didn't stick well to the khaki plastic. Chips, bumps and runs were ALL present in the movies. Look at starwarshelmets.com there are no pristine screen used helmets.

Or you could do what I did! I bought the kits, painted them up, sold them and now I have money for Fett parts! :D Sometime I will buy one to keep for myself!
