DW Design’s C6 Commander Cody Build

Active Hunter
Hello fellow Clones. I was commissioned to do a Commander Cody a couple of months back.
I have been working on it and I wanted to pass along some of my progress. The base of the suit build has been done tutorial but I wanted to share some of my work on the other items. I had several dierent prop makers sending me parts great to see rst hand all of the quality stu being made out there. I moved my old computer from he house to the garage.

I was working on getting the badge positioned correctly along with the battle damage on his chest.
I wanted the badge to be permanently xed so I attached it with screws. Since the chest is curved and
the badge is not I added magic sculpt to the side and built it up a bit.
I also noticed the chest marks “=” should NOT have been cut out, I will need to ll them in with bondo.

Moving onto the jetpack. The jetpack comes in two pieces. I gured the best way to really
lock these two pieces together would be to add some dowels for stability. I glued it together with Epoxy
and then added magic sculpt along the bottom to ll in the space.
This suit is going to be shipped overseas so I didn't want to permanently attach the jetpack to the back piece.
I gured two large dowels would work along with some magnets. I am really happy with the end results.
The jetpack sits perfectly on the back piece.

Moving onto the shoulders. I attached the antenna with screws and cut the slots
on the shoulder bells. I tried using some .09 styrene for the back of the shoulder bells.
It was just to hard to get the curve to t cleanly. I ended up using a for sale sign. This
is something I have seen done before in other Cody builds. It’s a bit thin but it held the curve needed very well.
I created the signature/logo for his left shoulder in Illustrator. I then got it cut out of vinyl. I’m going to use it as
a template. Now time to add the orange paint.

Once again, thank you for all the kind words and comments.
I wanted to share some more photo’s of the build.
I used my Blu-ray copy of E3 to try and get some better images of Cody.
I took photo’s with my digital camera and used them for reference.
I spent about $25 on buttons from a link in another post. Once they arrived I realized they were not only the wrong size but the colors needed were not close.
I ended up using keys from a calculator I got at the Dollar Store. I then went to Wal Mart and purchased some art paint.
Total cost around $3.00. I sanded the numbers off the back and painted them. I didn't paint the top, just the back and sides. The end result in my opinion almost perfect.
The purple color is 440 Violet Pansy
The orange is spray paint. It’s the same color I used on the suit. Valspar - Satin La Fonda Copper.
The blue is 2556 Medium Blue.

From the photo’s I took it appears the caps on the Detonator are yellow with a white center.
I couldn't tell what color the buttons were so I went with primer gray which I believe others have used in the past.
The yellow is Seaboard Airline Yellow and was applied with a airbrush.
It looks as if the Copper back belt boxes may also be differnt than regular clones. Maybe that is where he stores his holoprojector.

I did a quick sketch of the attachment on the right bicep. I cut up and used the bottom attachments from my Clone Pilot chest box to scratch build this piece.
I plan to have a friend make a better version from a Illustrator file I created. Hopefully I will have some available for sale within a month.
I attached it at the top with two screws and the band with the two part epoxy.
I used Krylon Fusion for plastic Copper Hammered for the band. I also used the same Copper paint for the Jetpack, back belt boxes and the antenna on his helmet.
