Darktrooper Progress Thread 8MAR2011: Getting back to it

I was, in Dark Forces they are robots if my memory served me. Also for the record they are in Star Wars Galatic Battle Grounds and they have robot sounds on there too. That came out after the release of EP1.

I never was happy with them makeing them human in Battle Front. Or the messing with the TKs all being clones in SWBF2. (That second one REALLY bugs me.)

Yes, in dark forces, they were droids. I remember freaking out when I was younger playing DF, and seeing one of these, making its creepy noise. BTW, can anyone can get me one or two of those dark trooper figures? I'd like to have one that I can keep packaged, and one I can open up and play with lol Thanks

Do you want me to see if I can pull the sound files for the Dark Trooper out of Dark Forces. I know how to open the containers the files are in. I may also be able to find the noises off of Battle grounds. If you want me to look.

I had actually found a site that had all the sound files in mp3 format, I will have to see if I can find it again. They had them for all phases. Also, I never heard of "battle grounds," when did that come out?

Aside from that, today I got working on shaping the shoulder bell. lol it feels like no matter how long I sand this thing, its shape hardly changes at all. Well, I guess tonight, its taking more shape than it has been since I started on it. You will see in the pics the rough lines of what it's going to shape into. One on, you'll see that where I had thought the inside part is sorta pointed, like a conish shape, upon recieveing the 3d files, I find that it is in fact rounded off, so I'll be cutting down a section.

On the 2nd pic, you'll see a little domed line with an arrow pointing up. After sanding this, Ive come to the realization that its too short. So what Im going to to is wood glue 2 square pieces of MDF, so its the appropriate height, and finish the top curved portion. The one good thing about this shoulder bell, is that its like almost every other SW armor, its the same thing, just placed reversed of each other. With this bell however, the bells do not evenly cover the front and the back when worn. The front will ride up higher then the back. So here it is for now.

I really don't know when it came out. It is an Age of Empires like game, infact runs off the AOE2 engin. Its a fun little game in its own right. Run a google search if you want to know more about it.

I for some reason (and its been soooo long so I may be creating false memories here) that when they were first introduced, they were elite stormtroopers, in bio mechanical exoskelton enhanced armour.

Well, actually, in the original game of Dark Forces, they went through 3 phases. The first 2 I am confident they were droids. However, you face off against the phase 3 in the end. The thing with that, is the phase three is general Mohc? (Cant remember the name exactly) using it as an exoskeleton. So by defult, when it comes to accepting the Darktrooper, they cannot pass it off as being a droid, well at least the phase 3.

Im really amazed at everyone else patience with me lol, Ive procrastinated soooo much, and the thread is still here! I thank everyone else for being so patient with me!

in dark forces all the phase i were droids and had no suit, they were basically just a skeleton with vibroax arm and shield, much similar to stuff in the terminator movies.

the phase 2 is what is adapted to battlefront and is still a droid in dark forces lore.

only one phase 3 suit ever went into use and it was used as a body suit for general rom mohc the designer of the dark trooper project in dark forces.

he is killed by kyle at the end of the game, and the arc hammer is then blown up, destroying the supply line of the dark troopers

i'm also having trouble finding this figure anywhere. i am suspicious of some of the stores hoarding them, because i see multiple copies of figures from the same series and NO darktroopers

Are you kidding me? I thought the whole point of recarding is was so people would finally have a chance to get it after that 5 minute run of expanded universe figures in 98.

They were quite easy to find, no issues on my end.

I didn't know they only came with a gold coin...I thought I was just lucky and only found the gold coin ones!

Yea, I hated how some stores hoarded figures. Thats the only way I found both the MQ Fett and TK (which now belongs to ItsThatGuy ) It was a pain though, cause before at the walmart, some guy ran the toy department and was honest and cool about it. Said he saved them for the hardcore collectors. Where as now, some little asian women runs it, and I think I annoy her everytime I ask or she just thinks Im nuts

Alright, well this shoulder bell is taking alooooooooong time. There isnt really alot left to do, but enough to keep me busy on that for along time. Im thinking that Im going to start the chest mold soon, so this will start to take some shape.
