I think it looks great!

I like it, but then I thought your ROTJ Weequay was amazing. Did the full costume ever get made, I would love something like that, any tips or pointers on parts etc would be cool, masks maybe? LOL.

That looks like it would be really tight. Are you going to use DragonSkin silicone?

ROTJ Weequay??? I would love to give you tips, but I never made that one.

I used DragonSkin for my Day of the Dead "Bub" appliance and it is awesome stuff!


Yeah, I think you are thinking of Darth Serberus who made a ROTJ Weequay. I am looking for one of those myself.

You have to use ULTRACAL instead of the standard hydrocal used for making regular latex masks.

I heard ULTRACAL works good but if you can use fiber-glass it's better, do you think this true?

Never tried it but then again, I'm pretty old-school. LOL!

It was tinted with the dye made for DragonSkin and the rest was just latex mask greasepaint sealed with believe it or not, hairspray.

Hairspray? Thats funny I've never heard of that before.

It sets the greasepaint.
You could use the clear Krylon spray paint on a regular mask but since it was already applied to my face, the hairspray seemed a better choice.

that's what i was thinking... make a couple of alginate hand molds, cast em up and use those as the base.

Hey, I have some alginate... ..so before you send me yours let me mold my hand so I can do some tests. I'll post how they go.

Mold your hand relaxed but with your fingers spread (like if you were palming a basketball). This will keep the latex from wrinkling or bunching when you grab objects. I've seen so many latex hands that have the effect ruined because of un-natural folds.

Well the rubber and plasti-paste just got here, should start on the mold later.

just started on the mold, pics will be up soon.

Well I started out with a clearcoat with a little paste wax to release it.



Result is nice and shiney.



Then I mixed up some Plasti-paste form Smooth-on.



Then a small coat go's on.



Then a thicker coat.



I'll probably finish the rest tonight.

I probably sound like a complete idiot to you but who is weequay? (I burry meself into old republic rather than more modern eras)

It's okay, Weequay is not a person but is actually a species. Most of them are bounty hunters, pirates, or some other type of scum.

Just demolded it(the mannequin head got destroyed, so I just ordered a new one), and the clay got stuck but I got most of it out, should finish it by tomorrow.

I had the mold all cleaned up and was injecting the silicone and then bloooub the syringe cap came off and silicone is everywhere except in the mold, now I have to order some more.

Okay, I injected what I had left (not enough) and just de-molded it and it's kinda like a zombie weequay(I'll post pics as soon as I can find my camera). Anyway I think I might make the mold again (three piece), but first I would have to make a hard copy out of resin any tips on how to cast resin into plasti-paste?


And on top of that I can't afford more silicone for a while anyone know how to get sponsored by Smooth-on, if they do that?

Actually SUPER, he asked if they were firing the BARGE GUN, not the skiff guards. so the answer is actually "no" to that question.

The barge gunner was a (red) Nikto.

You could always turn it into Hondo Ohnaka costume if you wanted. That would be pretty cool and he has gotten a fair amount of air time on the series.

started it last night, hope to wear the mask to comic-con,I'm slushing it in both halfs then putting the mold together and slushing one more time.

What is your reason for doing it that way if you don't mind me asking?

Well it turns out that I misread the dragon skin FX-pro, it's made for prosthetics(pm if intrested)because it's not that flexy. So once I get the $ I'll buy the eco-flex rubber.

PS once I find my USB cord I'll upload pics.
