My first attempt at making a clone trooper helmet. I know It's ******, I know there are spacing problems, and the domes not even close to round. So hopefully someone can learn from my mistakes. I tried to make my own cause i dont have the money to buy/build a real one.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for showing your first helmet. That looks like a great first attempt, and probably not your last. Keep at it.
Cardboard is great stuff when you have no money. It's free and there's lots of it around. I don't feel that corregated cardboard is the best for surface work, as you have there.
You might like to look through this thread for some ideas. It isn't cardboard, but you can get ideas.

Is there specific measurements for the helmets? right know mines 9in diameter across the bottom and about a foot tall.
Lets say I get a stock card helmet I like what would i do from there? apply fiberglass, or silicon caulk?

Corragateted Cardboard makes nicer silhouette shapes for templates. I don't have a link, but somwhere there is a tutorial of the clone scout with cardboard and floral foam. I did a search for it, but it didn't show up. KWDesigns? Ring a bell?
My best advice ist to draw the helmet 1:1 scale first, before you move the the expensive material. If you want to build on the cheap, I can't think of anything cheaper tool that a pencil, ruler, and paper.
I salute your first attempt, and if you would like to test out a build technique as a "proof of concept," I recommend 1/4 scale a few times before the big one. I have done that with helmets that never got to full scale, but I did test out my ideas quickly (one day) in quarter scale.

dont give up just yet man youve got a good start. The backs of old notebooks are great to use also. when i made my fett jetpack i used foamcore board and a 3 foot by 3 foot
board was $5 at hobby lobby. good luck.
I resined the inside of mine, followed by a layer of fiberglass, then another layer of resin (you do it all at once). BTW, the fiberglass does not work in tight corners/sharp angles (it pulls away when it dries), but the resin alone should be OK in those areas. Once it's good and stiff, you can fill in the seams on the outside. I used Bondo and a bit of plumber's epoxy on my bucket, but it's made out of plastic signage, so I'm not sure how that transfers to cardboard. You might try a vinyl spackel. Antman did a great cardboard helmet tutorial and you can find it on the Wiki section of the forum. You can also find those dome templates I mentioned there as well.Quote:

The Brow Band, or "Disk" measures 10.125" L X 8.5" W
It is not a circle or an oval, but an elongated circle. The front and back are semi-circles, and lengthwise has the ear in the middle.
You can build the dome and face separately because they just sit flush on the disk. You can build the front and back separately. THe ear covers the line between the two.
These are just some things to think about as you learn.
BTW, it is easier to buid a solid helmet, than a hollow helmet; just like a building.
