Captain Rex Pepakura bucket

dung0beetle

Active Hunter
I have a new pep model to share. It is low-poly, but should be a good foundation to work with.

I was thinking that maybe those who have a Rex, but no rangefinder, could use the one from this file if they need it. The Rex rangefinder is not the same shape as the Fett ones, btw.
The model isn't unfolded yet, but I will get to it and update the link. There are some intersected parts in it too, but only the rf and a spot on the back of the head.
You can download it HERE.

Edit: Link updated! Intersected parts cleaned up. I'll unfold later tomorrow.

Forgot to post the unfolded link.
Here it is.

I also have been working on an Ep. II Clone.
I have a small area left to do in the back and I am going to add more detail to the fin.

mate...could you up-scale it..i'd love to be able to wear it. Thks.

...Ah... the Pattern dungObeetle produced is 30cm high when built full scale - That's probably wearable for most people.

I'm building mine at 70% (printed on A5 or 2-up on A4) as test build and for illustration purposes. Building scale tests helps me because it only uses half as much paper, is easier on my printer (it hates printing on card) and is a little bit faster for me to put together than a full scale build.

If you want to adjust the size of the pattern, use Pepakura Designer rather than Pepakura viewer, the demo version is still free. You'll be able to adjust the scale of the pattern to what ever you need and then print out your pages. The only catch being that you won't be able to save it so make sure you remember what size you printed it at in case you need extra pieces...

Build Finished... and Apologies to Trooper937

Alrighty You'll find attached some photos of my 70% build of the Rex/SW:TCW pepakura bucket designed by dung0beetle.

Firstly...Nice! A pretty easy build that comes together well and captures the look of the TCW helmet very nicely. You'll see that the back of the helmet needs a little detail, but I'd be pretty happy using this a starting point for a full scale build. The only tricky part is the rangefinder it needs some very precise cutting, scoring and folding. Mine looks a bit rough if you look closely at the photos but that was me rushing not the fault of the pattern, It'll build up nicely with a bit of care. One more thing, while I've used paper for this build, I'd make the stalk for the RF out of something other than paper if I was going to wear the helmet at all mine has already drooped a little between taking the photos and typing this!

And I owe Trooper937 a bit of an apology I think I mis-understood his last post to be a comment in my direction when he was probably sending it dung0beetle's way.

You see the helmet is very undersize at its current default scale of 30cm. The 30cm height of the pattern includes the Rangefinder and this throws things off a quite a bit. The last photo is a comparision of the 70% scale dung0beetle's Rex Helmet to my previous build of Skupilikson's AOTC at 50% scale... not a lot of difference in size. My guess is that the Rex Bucket should be scaled to 34-36 cm height when you print it out if you want to be wearable.

dung0beetle - nice work! Thanks again.

No problem mate, partly my fault. I've tried scaling it up but the problem being, the visor was too large for A4, so i was hoping dungbeetle would upscale the actual 3d model.I was preety devestated went half-way throught the build, realisting i can't wear it..hah

right - I have scaled the helmet to total height to 34cm and the helmet is still too small to use as a 1:1 helmet

total height at the back = 22cm
total height in the front = 28cm

I am thinking - prob scaled up to a height of 40cm
more updates when I get time

Nate

30cm is kind of my default scale for helmets. It isn't always in the ballpark, but it is a good place to start. I also forgot to take the fin into account when scaling it.

sorry to post a double lads, but is there anyone here willing to help resize it(cause i can't..or lets say...i don't know)..i'd like to wear it plz...all i know is to make it from paper and other..not from the pc...sorry.:D

I haven't had a chance to build it yet, I just finished "pep-ing" my EpisodeII helmet which fits my son perfectly, but I need to scale it up a little bit to make it fit my noggin'. I'll see what I can get done before my kids go back to school.

Soory again for double posts..wondering if there is any progress, lv to have a good size pep helmet to wear, and need someone to re-size to a wearable size..hopefully.
