I've been working like a dog on this, its taken a little over a week, there is still a lot to get done, the dome is lop sided at the moment, and the surface is quite rough, have to get in and hit all the angles with a razor but, its starting to resemble a clone helmet.

Some days I was putting 10 hours into it... So "a week" is all relative really, I'm pretty happy with where it is for the time frame, usually I take things very slowly, a helmet can take me months to do sometimes LOL some of them never even get finished at all :p I still have a long row to hoe... Being hand made, it's never going to be perfect but, Im trying my hardest to make it as good as I can, there are already some really nice renditions of this helmet out there, so I have my work cut out for me..

What did you make it out of??? or did you sculpt it.

Foam, bondo, apoxy-sculpt, styrene.. You name it, it's in there :) "Sculpt" is quite a broad term, I didn't start with a bust and a ball of clay if that is what you're askig. IMO that would be a wrong way to make this helmet, because it has so many flat surfaces, I approached it like a model making excercise. I did sculpt it in the sence that the entire thing was made by me, it's not a modified existing helmet.

Apoxy-Sculpt is a ridged setting two part polymer putty for detail sculpting, its a lot like plumbers putty but it has a much longer work time (5 to 8 hours). Styrene, or more correctly HIPs is a type of thermoplastic usually supplied in sheets, commonly used to vacuumform items like plastic cups and packaging. It's also popluar among model makers.
