501st Clone Helmet Build-up

Great work Joe, very nice. The weathering is key to getting a cool looking clone bucket.

Shame it is not a nice Shocky - not a big fan of the blue stripe myself.

Hitting the helmet with a clear coat later before going back and adding another wash, I discovered an old Tamiya paint I had called smoke, its a clearish colour with black/brown tones and perfect for a final wash once diluted (y)

That's a cracking paint job! The amount of weathering looks fine to me. Too much and it starts to look messy, and not in a good way, so I'd say leave it at that, but I'm no expert.

Here is the helmet with the visor template installed, I fitted 4 t-nuts to the inside of the helmet, the position of the nuts I got by making a cardboard template with 4 holes, I simply marked through the holes with a black marker pen so I knew where to position the t-nuts, the result is a nice fitting visor, the new owner can then use the template to make a more permanent visor at a later date (y)

It looks really nice, but maybe a "black acrylic wash" will help to tone down a bit the white and do it more "used", like ILM did on the boba helmet.

:cheers

Here are the final photos of the helmet before it gets shipped off to its new owner, hope you like it mate, its been a cool project to work on especially being able to fix up the helmet from its original state  Anyways I hope you guys have enjoyed seeing the evolution of this paintjob, I certainly have enjoyed sharing it with you (y)
