    Sentry02 Introduction

    Good morning,

Just thought I would take a moment to introduce myself to the boards. I had been looking for this particular forum on TDH and now realized it was smack dab in front of me.

At any rate, my name is Brad and I am in Virginia. I am new to costumes, props, and everything else around these parts. I started several weeks ago working on a TK setup and I have someone helping me put that together and I'm working on a few smaller projects as well. It's quite addictive building some of this stuff out (modding a Hasbro has been a blast). I thought I would drop by here and say hello as I'll be around this board for a long, long time.

Originally, I was going to work on a TK and I had dismissed putting together a Boba as something that was out of my reach due to lack of skill. As luck would have it, I made it to this board and I was surprised at how open everything was and how much folks truly want to help others around here. I realized that, although I may not currently have the ability to make all of my own stuff, there are some insanely talented artists around here who can help me build a costume of my favorite character either by their craft wares or by their knowledge and insight.

I made peace with the fact that building a nice Boba would likely take me quite some time to get done, but I would rather try and do it the right way. I'm still coming up to speed on everything, so I'm relying largely on the tutorials and the products offered on forum. Everyone I have reached out to for different items have been more than willing to help me in answering my stupid questions and other things. It's not all about simply taking my order for product and I appreciate that. It really is nice to be able to come to a forum where people aren't constantly in flame wars and bickering with each other. That gets old fast and I tend to avoid those types of forums as they reduce my allotted number of brain cells.

I'm hoping to build a ROTJ someday and I'd like to be able to contribute and give back at some point. I'll just have to learn a bunch more before I'm very useful. I figured I'd drop a note and introduce myself in case anyone actually reads this forum. Here's to the beginning of a great hobby!

Welcome Brad - Just going through the process of making my first Fett and you will find everything you need on TDH. If I could offer any advice as I am a noob to costuming, take your time, good luck!

    Re: Sentry02 Introduction

For the record, I came across a thread talking about one of the more notoriously unsavory sellers on the Internet on this site. It helped me tremendously (even though there was talk in the thread that it was pointless to have another such thread). Yet one more thing I am appreciative for as, like many new folks, I too found that site very tempting. I have a parts list slowly starting to build and I've been reaching out to people on the site. Some of these items will take a bit to save for. =-)

    Thank you for the encouragement!

The notorious seller wasn't "Star Fortress" was it?

Haha, yeah it was. Good thing I steered clear of them. Especially after I saw those images of the clone rig. I would hate to have been that guy who spent so much on it.

    Represent VA!

Although, this will likely take me a bit to get done. I'll post some stuff up on GT once I get it together. I have some great parts for the rig inbound at the moment.

Haha, take the two cheek regions from the helm and rotate 90 degrees to the right and then put a RF on the side of it. I took aspects of a Boba bucket and combined them in a somewhat different way. I did this on purpose for a unique effect that would be my own is all. I posted a thread about it, but I think it was largely ignored.

    Brad

EDIT: It was originally intended to be a "G" for my last name, but I made it too symmetric for that to work very well.
