You started to build this just last week? Well done you. Have you ever done anything like it before? Hello by the way and welcome :-)
wow looking great!!!
Hi
I used to build models years ago. Never done anything like this though. Made loads of mistakes but learning as I go and overall quite pleased for my 1st effort.
bloody hell if you have never done this before you would never no!!!!
wicked
Thanks for your comments people. I will keep adding pics as I go!!
The helmet is coming along great! This forum is full of great informaiton, and the people here are really helpful if you have any questions, welcome![]()
Got to thank wizardofflight and digifett for the online tutorials. Been a mission to build so far but there threads are great. Wigwam
Slowly but surely!!! Dome is easier than i thought, just takes time and patients!!!!!

Got some more done today. Should be ready for paint soon!
more sanding to come.......!
That is impressive to say the least...can't wait to see more!
Loads of adjusting due to first time round errors. But now coming along nicely. Got most of the sanding done but now time to put part together and do the final filling.....then the final sanding, again!!!! Dome is rough but as i was sanding filler/bondo it leaves natural looking dents so decided to go with the rough look. Being a bounty hunter surely the dome can't be that smooth???? Personally I think it will look better, Comments on that welcome......![]()
Ready for paint nearly. one more sand of fine detail areas!!!
Hi and welcome!
lookin good
Good work man. congratulations!!!!!!!!
Ok so here is a better update on my 1st attempt. I havent done any model making for about twenty years and finding this website a few weeks ago and trying my first build is one of the best things i have ever done!!!!! If you are afraid to have a go, trust me, just do it!!! You will enjoy!!! Your Mrs or Mr wont though!!!!!! Experienced TDH members will probably notice the following......!!!!!
But apart from my mistakes I am really pleased with the outcome so far. Still loads of painting to do and I still plan to make a second, better one when I am done.
- My dome is too high and i didnt sand it totally smooth because I thought a few natural looking dents would be better.
- I made up my own green because i couldnt find a correct one.
- I copied count dookies ESB paint stencils when i am using ROTJ range finder topper.
- My "ears" are about 1cm too far back.
- I painted the whole thing using enamal and BRUSHES when it seems everyone uses spray or air brushes.
- I could go on........
So thanks to everyone for your comments and if you havent tried to make one yet, get to it!!!!!
Oh.. and my Dent and arrows < > are too high!!!! Oh well!

Still, not bad for your first scratch build lid...good job
For a first go, quite nice! The forehead looks a bit too tall to me though. . .
I know the dome is too large. This is mainly to learn from my mistakes and a fancy dress party in february so im not that bothered. Next one will be better...
welcome.its lookin good.
Seriously the Cheekbone plates are destroying me how the heck do I do them I have tried quite a few different ways. Someone Pls help.
I cut some triangle slits and a bit of bending in the right direction. I worried about it too but then stopped once i had coverered them in filler/bondo. Dont worry about them being perfect as when you have filled and sanded they will look fine.
Also check out antmans threads. he has done two helmets so far and is a genius. Both thread are on here. Read his text as well cos he gives good tips. His attention to detail is outstanding.
Very.... Very.... nearly finished my first scratch build!!!!! Only have some detail work to do on the right ear (as you look at helmet). I am going to now make a rough costume as I have a fancy dress party end of jan but then I will start my second "perfect"! helmet. Going to use 1mm poly instead of cardboard this time.
Big thanks to W.O.F, Antman, Digifett, Count Dookie and loads of other people on here that have posted good stuff to learn from. I am now a TDH member for life!!!!!!![]()
Wow, how did I miss this. Great job! Your lines make me ashamed of my razor skills![]()
My boba fett 'fancy dress' costume for the 'hollywood' theme birthday party. Also 3 other people turned up as star wars charactures. Thought I was going to be the only Star Wars geek!!!!!
