Hello all

My name is Mike and I am a long time fan of everything Star Wars but my passion is towards ESB and the man himself Boba Fett. I am living in Southern California (High Desert) and am 30 years old this year and have decided to embrace my inner geek and let him out of his cage. The reason I am joining this forum group is to find guys and girls with the similar interest I have, and ultimately joining the 501st. I have had "the talk" with my wife and kids about setting aside funds and time for this has been authorized!! I would LOVE to start collecting materials /building /painting anything to do with my costume ASAP. I look forward to meeting you all and I'M SO EXCITED!!:D

Thanks!

Welcome, Brother. You have definitely come to the right place for Fett. Very cool that you have the families support for this endeavor. I am in North Hollywood. Doesn't sound like we are too far apart.

welcome, fellow ESB'er! :) glad to have another on board! :cheers as BooBoo said, this is the ULTIMATE palace, yes palace, for anything regarding Boba Fett...many, many resources are at your fingertips here, so just feel free to ask if you have any questions! the search engine is a great and helpful tool as well, but nothing like getting help from a brother...(y) just give us a shout if you need any help...

Very Cool and thanks for the warm welcome. I guess my first question would be where to start? What piece or prop would be the best starting point for someone who is new to the costuming world? Do you guys do workshops or get together for party builds?

well, alot of people start with the helmet, since it is what makes Boba, well, Boba! ;) i have heard of people getting together and working on stuff, so ya, that certainly goes on...(y)

where to begin is really up to you, though...what i would do, is search, search, search...look at reference pictures, watch the movie, decide what strikes you the most about the Fett costume...then build around that piece...

another thing you need to decide is, how much are you going to want to build, paint, weather, etc, yourself, and what are you going to want to buy...there are many threads on "do it yourself" topics...you need to set a budget, and decide how much you are going to want to spend...some members have put over $4 grand into their costumes...ya, wow! it is easy to do for sure...there are many great vendors here on TDH as well that make the "base" parts, like the armor, gauntlets, helmets, jetpacks, blasters and so on...so take some time and see what skills you possess, ie painting/weathering, building, actually making the items, then go from there...one word of advice, stay away from ebay or other sites that claim to have great products...more times than not, you will be disappointed in the long run by saving money up front, and then wind up spending more in the end if you would've just gone with the best in the first place...;) now granted, there are members here that sell stuff on ebay, and it is good quality, but make sure to check references on those individuals...if you have questions about what vendors there are, and what each one makes, give me a shout...ill hit ya up with a list of my good buddies...(y) also, if you have a question about an ebay seller, certainly give someone here a shout...never hurts to ask! :cheers

good stuff there, and pretty close on prices...

Welcome aboard. Have fun collecting. I have been collecting/upgrading for the last 4-5 years and I still don't have a completed Boba. This is a great group. Have fun and read all that you can on here. There is a wealth of information on the forum.
