Hello from South Africa

BaldrickCat

New Hunter
Hi there I'm a new member from Port Elizabeth South Africa.
I'm looking to build a ESB or ROTJ Fett. I'm new to costuming and have no idea where to start. I don't have any tools and not sure I'd do well as a scratch build, so I'm looking for reliable, cheap, easy to use kits to make my Fett.
Any advice for this clueless newbie?

Since your so new you wont be able to post in the cargo hold but you can still PM people to buy items. Keep an eye on the cargo hold and you can find some sweet deals. Also a place to start would be to look at the many scratch build threads for ideas on how to make different parts cheaply. I don't have the link handy but there is also a thread about making armor out of plastic trashcans that has been replicated to great effect. Also welcome to the forum and good luck with your build!

Howzit Nice to see a fellow Saffa on here. I've just joined on here too so my access is limited as well, so can offer no advice on buying kits etc, and I'm no seasoned builder (yet) I'm sure the other guys on here will have better advice but we all start somewhere hey. Ive often thought how my build would go if i was back home. There are a lot of great templates for armour etc available on here, I've used them there are links to print. You could use cardboard as well thats what i was initially going to use. I stumbled across a product called foamex here in the uk, called Sintra in the States i think. You can get that in SA for like R14 a sheet A4, also called PVC foam sheet, they use it for display boards there. It can be heated and bends well, and you don't need fancy tools to work it, just a saw or knife and it can be heated with a hair dryer or heat gun. Maybe check a garden centre (nursery) to find plant pots/containers things like that. The best thing you can do is loads of research, this is the best place to look, as well as a ton of other sites, look to see how other guys did their builds, thats been really helpful for me. Anyway hope this was hopeful good luck with your build :)
