Hello all.

New to the board and costuming. Not had a chance to fully look around yet - but what I've seen so far is really cool - Very nice site!!

Was a Star Wars fan in my youth and my interest has been rekindled as of late with watching the movies again.. and again... and again with my two boys (ages 2 and 4.5) they can't seem to get enough. I've been toying around with the idea of making my first set of armor so I have been looking around the net and getting some ideas, a lot of it from TK sites. I think I'd like to take a stab at making a set of fett armor as he's always been one of my favorites.

This site looks to be a great, if not the best, source of information - hopefully I can add something along the way.

Hello Northridge!! I grew up in Reseda! We are in Orange County now. Welcome!

Do a lot of research before investing too much time or money. That will prevent you from the immediate desire to continually upgrade. But, I must worn you, that is a trap of the costuming hobby. Once you get started, you tend to continually upgrade to strive for perfection. As far as costuming Fett, it takes a long time and a lot of money. Just be prepared for it, and that will be a good start.

There are plenty of us geographically close. I look forward to meeting you at some point.

Welcome!

I have to agree with debbi on doing your homework
My suggestion to you is this ;
Do it right the first time, acquire the highest quality parts that your budget allows. It'll be cheaper in the long run.

Best advice someone can give!! Don't be cheap!! It will only kick you in the butt latter....believe me! There is a difference between being cheap and looking for bargains. Some parts are expensive for a reason...they are are HIGH quality. That is something I didn't realize when I first joined, but it has been a pretty fun road from start to finish!

Very cool to hear from some people close by as well as those farther away - thanks for the the advice. Do you all mostly purchase your parts or do you fabricate any? I'm sort of looking to learn to fabricate but I know it takes tons of time and I have a lot to learn.

Hope to talk with you all more soon.
