    Hello from Afghanistan!

The name's Kyle Burns. I'm a Sergeant in the U.S. Army and currently stationed at Joint Base Lewis McChord, WA , but right now I'm living it up in good 'ol Afghanistan. Now that I'm receiving combat pay and I think it is a great time to start achieving my dream of becoming a Fett. Looking to build an ESB Boba, so if anyone has any good pointers of where to start, I would appreciate it! A little bit about me, I've been a life-long SW fan and the Fetts have been my obsession as long as I can remember. I'm about 6 foot, 185lbs and eager to get started. Thanks for your time!

    Hello from Afghanistan!

Good luck Buddy. Thanks for your service. Sounds like you are in the same boat I was nearly four years ago. Best advice I have for you? Go slow, read everything and buy Quality stuff ( FettPride, Man of War, BobaMaker, RedKraytDragon, Woodman, Darkside, MojoFett, and many others). Your first step is to pick which of the myriad versions you want to build; ESB, ROTJ, Special Edition,Supertrooper, etc. Good luck in your Fett Quest. There are LOTS of vets here at TDH and it is largely a community of wonderful guys and gals from all walks of life. So take a deep breath, prepare to do a lot of reading, lay out some serious cash, and end up with an AMAZING movie quality replica.

Thanks for the support! I'm thinking of doing an ESB build. I believe you when you say there are a lot of vets on here. I saw multiple Boba Fett and Stormtrooper stencil art on the walls at Kandahar Air Base. We servicemembers are some die hard fan boys for sure. lol and ICEmonkey, I have yet to see a camel spider, but I think it's because I got here around Fall/Winter.

    Re: Hello from Afghanistan!

I was hanging out in Afganistan about this time last year and was ordering up all my parts to start on a TK when I came home. The research and reading up on all the forums really helped pass the time.

I had a good time in Kandahar in 05-06, but I'm sure it's changed a lot since then. My most recent trip was spent mostly at FOB Salerno.

I thought about doing a TK to save money, but my love for Fett is too great, lol. Im out at FOB Masum Ghar, but I hop around to different FOBs quite a bit (I'm PAO). KAF is KAF and the boardwalk is still pretty awesome.

I stopped liking Kandahar when they switched the food contract to Supreme. Gross.

Welcome aboard, Kyle. I'm in your exact shoes, only I just got back from my Afghan vacation. Keep your head on a swivel and get back safe. Hopefully you can take some of that deployment money and start your build.
